Read, Write Inc

We are using Read, Write, Inc with our Foundation 2 classes. The other teacher loves it, but I am finding it dry and boring. How many others out there are using it and if so do you implement it exactly as it is supposed to be delivered (it is quite prescriptive). Also, where do you expect your children to be with this at the end of the year? Thanks

I have to be honest and say it isn't anything like I was expecting but it is good fun and I am enjoying myself. The thing is though, being new to a school environment, there is tons of stuff I don't know but feel I should do. I had a bit of a moment last week when I was asked to play a game found in the Letters and Sounds document with the lower ability group. I didn't have a clue what I was doing and ended up getting quite emotional about it all until another TA stepped in and modelled the session to me. The upset was largely caused by myself as I felt a bit silly asking for h…

Hi in my reception class we are focusing on the emotional development of a target group of children. We are currently working with our preschool to provide opportunities for them to play alongside and with younger children aswell as targeting them in our own play environment. With the main reason is that they have never had the opportunity to play and need it to be modelled to them From a course the other day outlining the SEAD document to us we now have our own puppet and am planning circle time sessions to model different situations (or issues that have arisen on the playgorund)to help show the puppet how to learn and behave in school. He will be working with all ch…

Sharing the learning outcomes and assessing with the children. Any ideas for approaching these in terms of displays? Does anyone use an interactive whiteboard and does this work well? Beyond Sparklebox are there any great sites with templates etc? What works best for you? Thanks

I know this is early but I need some ideas. We normally do entry by birth date but it means that the summer born children don't start part time till about the third week in and some parents weren't happy this year. Just wondered what you all do. We've got new parent meetings in early term 5 but need to get the brochures together soon. Thanks Bec
