Hi everyone, does everyone use WALT and WILF with their reception children? I base both of these on Shirley Clarke's ideas and have just been critisized in an observation for having the success criteria as steps to achieve the learning outcome. What does everyone else do?

Can anyone help please?!!! I have been asked to list how our current provision should change when we go to one point entry next year and my mind has gone totally blank! We currently do not have a Nursery but have part time children pre 5 who come in either in Sept or Jan. The one point change will only really affect the children who have previously started in Jan. There will be 12 of those next year. Thanks!! Anje

We now have only about 7 or 8 sounds left to teach the children in reception. After this is going to be all about consolidation and reviewing but I am increasing finding myself very bored with phonics and I'm sure the children must be too. I am going to assess them all after I have finshed the last set of sounds in order to find out what I need to revist etc. I also have a January intake who obviously are not up to the same speed as the rest but at the moment they are in a different group with my TA I just hoped people could give me some ideas about making it interesting again

They are very dominating but also quite immature. We have always had to deal with quite difficult behaviour from the boys and made our planning to fit accrodingly the thread thats going at the moment about boys writing sparked me into writing this as i feel we have worked very hard on getting the boys to write with maps and making it more interactive and going outside but now wow a whole u turn. The boys we have are lovely and just get on with things write, read, play nicely. Its the girls that …

I have a couple of handwriting / letter formation and wondered if anyone can help. 1. Writing long vowel sounds. When joining if you wrote igh you would join the letters and then dot the i. If you write igh in pre cursive, do you still dot the i after writing g and h or before ? 2. Forming k - Which is the correct way to form - down, then diagonal back to the line and then to the bottom, or take the diagonals from the vertical line ? 3. When writing t do you make it the same height as the l, h, b etc. I always have done when teaching children to write the letters. Someone pointed out yesterday that in books etc the t is slightly shorter. This does not matter when th…
