Toilet Advice Needed
by Guest- 19 replies

Just wondering if any of you have any ideas for a child who refuses to go to the toilet. Baically I have a little girl in my class who refuses to go to the toilet. Even if myself or my TA physically take her out to the toilet, she will sometimes pull down her knickers and sit on the toilet but she hasn't actually gone to the toilet. However the majority of the time she doesn't even go into the cubicle. She obviously needs to 'go' and spends a lot of time jigging around. It has got to the point where she just spends a lot of time screaming when we ask her to go to the toilet/take her out to the toilet. Even when we just leave her she is wandering around and sreaming …

No Notice Ofsted Pilot Inspection

Have just survived the first HMI pilot no notice inspection in a primary school. They arrived Tuesday morning at 8.35am and were in Foundation Stage by 8.50am. Have to say it was very stressful as I had two observations over the two days and as a member of the leadership team had to come out of the classroom to help the head get all the evidence together. With a normal inspection you would be able to do that after school in the couple of days between getting notice and the insepction starting but with a no notice you just don't get the time. Most of our governors work so were unable to attend at 24 hours notice and parents only had overnight to complete questionnaires. Of…

Hi, Wondering if anyone has any ideas in solving a particular problem. I have a very young August birthday child in Reception who is really not ready for school. The class is a rec/yr1 class and she is becoming more demanding during teacher led activities ie numeracy or literacy. She will cry asking for Mum, chew anything playdoh, tissue. I have tried to involve her in activites, sit next to older child but with no classroom assistant I am struggling.

Storage Sheds

I have some money to spend on storage sheds and have to decide which sort I'd like. I'm thinking of buying two, one for bikes and other ride on toys and one for everything else! But was wondering which is best, wooden, plastic or metal sheds. There are trees which over-hang, which isn't a problem as the wooden shed we have now has been there for over 15 years, and wooden ones do look nice, but I'm seriously considering a metal one. Just wondered what everyone else had, many thanks, jackie.

Hi all, I have recently moved into Foundation and I am looking to make my classroom look more 'early years friendly' (I used to be in key stage 1). I was wondering whether anyone would mind sharing photographs of their classrooms/nursery/areas of learning? In need of some inspiration, any ideas greatly appreciated! Tinky

Letter Formation Rhymes
by Guest- 5 replies

I am going to have a massive push after half term on correct letter formation. I have put the letters into the caterpillar, long ladder, one armed robot and zig-zag monter families and will make some sort of display to show them in the classroom. My class enjoy rhymes and I know that there is a mnemonic for each letter that you can say when writing the letters. Does anyone have a list of these they can share??
