I'm interested to know how often other reception classes have one adult in the room. And also how you manage this. I am by myself in the afternoon with 26 children and I feel I can't do meaningful focus activities and spend all my time ' classroom managing' Its hard to get observations done as I don't have the time. thanks in advance

Hi just wondering if anyone has any ideas for independent writing activites. I have a group of boys who have poor fine motor control and very relucant to write. These boys are very able but their writing skills are letting them down. I have focused on gross motor skills improving co-ordination which inturn helps fine motor skills. Tried finger painting, using washing up containers to squirt letters on the school yard, interactive white-board large letter formation activity. Praise, encouragement, stickers what else can I do help !!!

Hi all im new to this site but was really looking for some advice. Ive been working at my current primary school for 6 years and am currently SENco and KS1 manager. The Head has had no choice but to restructure the SMT resulting in one post being created - a Foundation/KS1 manager. I soooo want to go for it, it will be internal applicants only. HOWEVER, i have no Foundation stage experience.......The current Foundation manager could also be applying for the position. Any advice on what i should do before the interview in 4 weeks? Many thanks Jo

Key Worker System In Reception

Hi how do you work the key worker system in reception class. I am a TA in a foundation 2 class. The class teacher is named key person for half the class and myself for the others but that is as far as it goes. I used to run a pre school and the system worked well there but I can't seem to grasp how it works within schools?

Hi all I am feeling like I am not challenging my class in terms of PSRN. I don't know, maybe I am but just beat myself up too much like we all do. I know that there is a big emphasis on challenging chidlren in terms of problem solving and just wondered if anyone had come accross any good idea books? I have a number area with a PS activity every day like 'How many pairs of gloves?', the chidlren have to find out and write their answer on a score board. Just running low on ideas and a book would be great. Thanks

Hello all! Just registered to SFS so please excuse my first attempt to communicate with you all I am already hooked and have spent hours reading through topics etc that are so relevant to my charity based village pre-school. I desperately need to update our resource inventories (which have not been touched for over three years) Just wondered how other settings attack this seemingly endless task!?!?!
