Hello, can anyone recommend suitable scissors for Reception and Year 1 children to cut material with? The usual classroom scissors do not cut fabric which is very frustrating for the children so we are on the look out for some blunt ended but sharp scissors for them to use. Any ideas please?

Development Matters/profile
by Guest- 3 replies

Hi My head has asked me to go through all the development matters objectives from 30 months and match them to the relevant profile points. The idea being that we all use our development matters as our learning intentions and by linking them directly to the relevant profile points it will make our assessment process better.??? Some do of course directly link and it is really easy, others however don't link directly. Has anyone done this? Any opinions on this idea? Thanks

Hi - for the last week and a bit my class have been enjoying work on the icy weather, we have moved into penguins and igloos etc this week but all day today they have been drawing maps of the south pole and talking about how to get there etc. We got a large map of the world and some blank copies for them to draw on which they have(!!) and I have given then different types of maps to look at. Any ideas where we could go with the map theme next week? Thanks Ems x

Hello everyone, Can anyone please please help.... We are a very new Reception team with 2 inexperienced teachers (one being myself) and 2 nursery nurses between 2 classes of 30 children. I just don't know how to work the key worker system. The only way i could see this working in Reception is to have 4 key worker groups in ability with 15 children in each group. Is this a way other people work their K W system? Anyone's opinions and ideas will be much appreciated Thank you
