Has anyone got the words to the song in the Lively Music file about the body. It starts something like "I can clap my hands", and continues with verses about stamping feet, clicking fingers, etc. Ive lost my copy and would like to "do" it again this term! Thanks!

Writing Crisis

i hope someone can help as i am having a real crisis with writing. My higher ability children are able to make great attempts at writing, forming letters and sounding out words. For the middles and lowers at the moment they either have a go or they tell me the sounds they can hear and i will write them for them to trace over. My questions are: should i be asking children to dictate a sentence and then write it for them to copy? if so do you ask them to tell you the sounds they can hear and only write what they hear or spell the word correctly? or do you just let children have a go by themselves please help!! lola

Help - Light Sabers
by Guest- 21 replies

Before the Christmas holidays a few of the boys were bringing light sabers into school, and singing the star Wars theme music, a lot I'd hoped they'd got over it and had something different from Santa, but no, even more have had them, so I'm thinking this would be an ideal time to follow the childrens interests. The only thing is I'm really struggling with ideas, so I would be really grateful if anyone has any suggestions Many thanks, jackie.

Hello and Happy New Year! I hope you all had a gorgeous Christmas. I am struggling with developing the creative area in my reception class and the children's techniques. I have recently bought the belair early years Art book, but the ideas don't seem to follow a particular theme. I was wondering whether it would be okay to use the ideas without linking them to a particular theme? I just want to give the children and bank of skills for them go away and use independently. What do you think about this? Thanks very much! Tash

Hello I know that there has been previous posts on this but for the life of me cannot find them! Basically, I know that I should have one but don't exactly understand what format they should take, how often they are updated, what you include, how they are managed? Can anyone shed any light?

Data Protection/confidentiality

Hello, Just before Christmas there was an item on the internet about some sensitive records going missing - from someone's car I think it was. The data was on a laptop rather like some of these governmental laptops that go missing, it may have been in the Leeds area. Anyway, that got me thinking.............. what do you do about taking work home? I have done it for years as there is never enough time to complete things at nursery. Recently, when we introduced the All About Me folders as a result of EYFS we arranged to leave the family detail sheets at the setting, but take the rest home to stick in photos, observations and the like. I am now quite concerned abou…

Over last summer we had a complete rebuild with new pale green carpets (my heads choice...) and she demanded that in September my children had indoor shoes, outdoor shoes (stored in the cloakroom, down the corridor) and then wellies for our outdoor area (stored in classroom in a storage box). Why not have wellies just for outside i hear you say?! No, apparently wellies are not appropriate for the large playground equipment which my children access at lunch time... This has not been too much of an issue up until now because i had a relatively small class but now i've had my January intake it's a nightmare!! AGHHH some take ages to put shoes on anyway, some can't put shoes…
