This may seem an odd topic.....but there is a reason for me posting it! I have an interview in early January and as part of the interview I have to take a session with a group of undergraduate students to discuss the characteristics of an Early Years teacher! I have my own ideas, but would welcome others! Any offers?

I have split my Reception class of 30 into 2 groups and myself the class teacher and my teaching assistant are the Key workers. Up to now this has only really been on paper and for administrative stuff, eg, sorting work, photos, observations into the children's learning journey files. I have been advised that this is only a part of the 'Key worker ethos' and that I should be splitting the teaching time so that we each take our 'groups' for small group teaching, circle time, registration, etc. (effectively having 2 classes in one). I just don't know how this will work in one class (not physically got space for 2 groups to sit) and also timetabling, explaining to paren…

And if there are any advantages/disadvantages you found when doing so. I look forward to hearing from anyone who has been involved in setting up or working in a Foundation Stage Unit. Thanks

Just wondered if anyone had any ideas of extending physical play in a small garden for children aged 2-4 years? We have the usual tunnels, crates, hoops etc...but we would like to provide more equipment and activities that encourage larger physical play like climbing, balancing etc....

We have just had lesson observastions by our head teacher and are planning to do some peer obersvations with collegues from another school. Shamefully recaeption are being assessed/observed using the same criteria as KS 1 & 2 classess and so are only coming out as satisfactory because the criteria does not match good FS practice. Does anyone have any thing we could use to asses our provision against - OFSTED based???? PLease help, anything would be useful. Drew
