Hi hope everyone is having a good term. My little ones are once again fantastic and we have lots of "learning through PLAY" fun each day. Just a question, though maybe there isn't a right answer!!!!!! How many focused observations do people do each week, term etc on one child Came up at school between different staff, so thought I would see what all you wonderful people do on the FSF Thanks a lot Bev x

I worked in my first school for 4 years and gained a TLR whilst I was there. In Sept this year I have started at another school with a higher TLR point - FSL. Everything in school is OK but I feel it is not the school for me. The HT is very very laid back and life is fairly easy - I know it sounds crazy to be complaining! I am on the SLT team but the HT makes no demands of his SLT team. Also the school has a reputation of no one ever leaving, which I thought was a good thing, but it seems no one leaves because no one has ambition - they are not empowered as staff to be better. Would it be wrong to move school again and start somewhere else in Sept, will it look b…

Nqt Help With Eyfs
by Guest- 13 replies

I am an NQT in a reception class and would really appreciate ideas and advice from anyone in a similar position to myself or from anyone on the other side of the fence!! (friendly advice only please!). I have been trained to teach Early Years and most of the training I did last year centred around the implementation of the EYFS. The placement schools that I worked in during my PGCE year had started to implement the practice of the EYFS and so gave me a good grounding. For example, children were encouraged to make choices, there was a lot of outdoor play (free flow in the afternoon - not prescribed playtimes) and a lot of creative and practical activities to support…

So we got the call! Ofsted on Tuesday and Wednesday. I was actually on a course about leading the foundation stage (and making a very long list of things to do before ofsted arrive- ha ha!!!). They couldn't have picked a better week- class assembly tomorrow and parents evening Wednesday and Tuesday! Anyway, we are starting some work on Whatever next/Space on Monday. So just wondering if any one has any idependent/child initiated activities that link to space/whatever next etc. Also I'm not really sure what to do for KUW so any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Also do you think it's ok to do firework paintings on Tuesday afternoon? Or is it too far away fr…

Next week we're going for a walk to the local woods with lots of our parents and I'm hoping to spend most of the morning there (if it's not too cold! ). I've got some ideas of things to do while we're there, but wondered if anyone had any other suggestions? We've recently been looking at homes so i thought the children could make dens or nests for our class crow puppet and now we're having a bit of a focus on colour, so I thought looking for different coloured leaves etc in woods, als making headdresses and collages... The woods has lots of fallen leaves, sticks and branches, but when I went in half term with my own children, couldn't spot conkers or acornsetc, which was…

Physical Development

Just a quick question. I'm thinking about changing our physical development scheme. We are currently using Val Sabin but i'm a little fed up with it at the moment. Does anyone have any good alternatives? I was thinking about the Leap into Life one. What do people think about this scheme? Any other suggestions would be warmly welcomed! Vicki
