Morning Routine
by Guest- 18 replies

When children first come in in a morning they sit on the carpet and wait for register. However i have found that with the year group i have just had they were incredibly fussy (for want of a better word) in the morning and it would often take a long time to get the register done. I was considering maybe having a photo on the board for children to come in and discuss in a morning to give them a focus or maybe playing some calming music. What do you think? what do others done to settle children quickly in the morning

Jolly Stories

Hi there, I've been studying the Jolly Phonic scheme in some detail (for a showery summers afternoon !) and am slightly confused. In the 'Jolly Stories' book to support speaking and listening for example snake is spelt as 's n ai k' and rabbit, as 'r a b i t' and arrow as 'a r oa' I'm not sure about this approach ! I would prefer to use the correct spelling for displays but does this defeat the purpose? I have been teaching the letters and sounds using the correct spelling in EYFS and changing would surely confuse both children and adults. I think it is logical to teach the correct spellings from the start. JP is only used in our FS so there is no progression o…

Hi, Can anyone help me? I'm doing a topic on Clothes with my Foundation 2 class in September. We are going to have our Role play area as a Clothes shop and I would like to stock it with a range of clothes including some saris, chinese etc clothes but I am having trouble finding anywhere that sells any. I've found a couple of them on 'Hope' and NES Arnold' but they don't look that great. Does anyone know anywhere on the web that I could buy these clothes from? I would much appreciate any help.

Hi everyone. This is the first time I have posted on here, although I use the site all the time - so thank you everyone for your useful advice on here. Just a little favour - I am in the process of filling in my threshold application (school closed today due to floods). It is quite daunting. I wondered if anyone would be kind enough to share their application, or some ideas with me. Thank you.

Hi there, I'm new to the FSF and have already noticed that loads of people are doing self registration in the morning. I'd love to hear about how people actually organise this as it sounds like something I would be interested in implementing in my reception class. Thanks!

Hope some one out here has a good plan for deploying staff to the outdoor rota. We have a really good enclosed and secure outdoor area which can be accessed all day the problem I am having is how to rota it in our everyday curriculum to be used all day. I have staff who do not like being out doors and I need some kind of plan to ensure that every member of staff takes their turn. Can anyone who is able to use outdoor activity all day give me some idea has to how you plan or rota it. Any help will be appreciated

Planning Using The New Eyfs
by Guest- 6 replies

Hi everybody! I'm new to the FSF and hope that it will prove to be an extremely useful resource! I'm statrting a job in Reception in September and am unsure how to plan for my children using the new framework. Has anybody implemented a system that uses numbers to speed up planning? I can't imagine having to type out each ELG or stepping stone (I knw theyre not called that anymore but I can't remember their name!) on my planning each time! Also, I'm unsure how to record childrens progress who are not quite on the profile yet. I've thought about printing out each set of targets for each area of learning for each child and highlighting each one as they are achieved but this …
