Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone could confirm the child initiated:adult led/initiated ratio for reception. Am I right in thinking: Aut term 60%CI and 40%AL/AI, spr term 50%-50%, sum term 40%-60%??? and what about nursery? thanks all Jo

Child Alone

Help. I have a girl in my reception class who is having difficulty making friends or communicating in the play ground. Unfortunately the physical play ground is not child friendly with no activities laid out for the children to do. We are having a major play ground refurbishment soon. I have a very sociable group who play really well together but this particular child just sits on the bench watching. I have tried different tactics - putting the children into groups with specific games to play at play time, encouraging her to bring things to play with, asking her mother to organise play days at home, teaching them play ground games etc but nothing has worked. Recently s…

I am preparing a report along with the child's key person for a child who attends our setting with Autism who currently has one to one support , his parents have requested a statement for him. The report format has been given too me but as it is my first time of doing one like this I wonder if anyone could offer any advice to me. Obviously this report will determine how much support he will receive in school. He has been offered a place at the local mainstream school but his parents are undeceided about where to send him and are visitng other schools in the area. I did wonder about speaking to the mainstream schools SENCO but am not sure about this? smiles

I just read Marion's post about descriptive writing and it reminded me that I've been meaning to ask people who do Big Writing in schools how their school fits it with the new literacy framework. (I hope its ok to post this as its not so specifically concerned with foundation stage but I don't know anywhere else where I can find such a lot of experts in one place! ) We find it difficult to do the framework as well as have one morning a week for B.W. and the next day's lit session for a review of the writing from the day before. Does anyone have any solutions / compromises / planning...? Thank you!
