Ideas For Music Assembly?
by Guest- 6 replies
- 2.9k views
Hi, The week after next my school is having a music assembly where each class has to show what they have been doing in music for a couple of minutes (either a song, chn playing instruments etc). For music we do beat baby so could do that but my chn are still really struggling to keep the beat so that could be a disaster! I was wondering if anyone has any great ideas - our topic for this week is Autumn and then next week it's superheroes. I'm not the slightest bit musical and neither is my NN so we are a bit stuck at the moment. Does anyone have any ideas of something we could do that ties into either of those two themes???

Display Labels

Just wondering what the general opinion is on whether to use handwritten or typed (on computer) labels for displays in the classroom. I work in a nursery/reception class and was thinking about this the other day when planning for a new display. Would be grateful to hear what other peoples views are on this and what they use for thier displays. Thanks

Letter Formation Rhymes
by Guest- 6 replies
Does anyone use any rhymes or sayings to help the children with their letter formation? The handwriting scheme my school uses refers to them as curly caterpillar letters ©, one armed robot letters ®, long ladder letters (l) and zig zag monster letters (z). But there doesn't seem to be a little rhyme/saying for each individual letter. Any ideas of sayings that they could say as they write each individual letter? Also does anyone have an ideas for the old age problem of confusion over b/d? Thanks guys. xx

Hi - Anyone using the Southwark medium term plans for Reception? (Available on the Norfolk.gov web I think). Anyone know how old they are? Are they any good? My manager wants to use but I'm not so keen - especially with all knew initiatives at present.

Rhymes Advice

Just wanted others' opinions on something that's been at the back of my mind for a while: with developing children's awareness of rhyme in mind, is it better for them to hear rhymes as spoken/does putting it to a tune help or hinder? My context is preschool by the way.

Friendship Week
by Guest- 6 replies

Next week is anti-bullying week. Instead of focussing on the negative we're stressing the positive. We will make friendship bracelets to give to friends. Circle time - saying something nice about the person sitting next to you. Painting pictures of their friends. Writing the names of their friends on brick shapes to make a friendship wall. Writing the name of anyone who has done something nice today, putting them in a box - on Friday we'll count the number of names and have a special celebration. I have a nice story 'Is that what friends do?' I'd really like to do a poem, but can't think of one. I'd be grateful for any other ideas.
