Co-ordinator role
by Guest- 8 replies

Hi everyone, My headteacher has asked everyone to write down what year they would like and what co-ordinator role they would like next year. I am in my NQT year but she is hoping for me to take on a co-ordinator role in September however I have no idea which one. People at school suggested drama and music as I have an interest in drama however i'm worried about music as lots of teachers tend to leave that bit out and I wonder how I would get any evidence. So I am also considering ICT, art or humanties. Any advice by anyone more experienced? I know this isn't much of a question I'm just a little confused as to what to say. Thanks in advance.

hi everyone. next week we have our class assembly (catholic school) which is based on our current RE topic 'treasures' it is all about realising that we have treasures - in the things that are special to us and that God has treasures, in us and everything that he created. The main bulk of the assembly is ready - lots of pictures and confident children reading their writing about treasures. I normally plan the assembly to take the audience through our learning during the theme and When i first metioned the theme the children all thought of treasure as something that you look for on a map. BUT im not sure how to do it. The child in me wants something to do with pir…

Hi! Has anyone ever had their children record a risk/benefit assessment?? I would like to allow my children to use a barked, fence play area next to our garden area. I was thinking that I could get the children to 'write' to the FSHead to persuade her to let them use the area by photographing different features and telling her how they'd minimise the risks - like 'We'll make sure the gate is shut' 'We won't throw the bark' etc and present their ideas to the rest of the class Hmm...I'm not sure Anyone tried this before? Thanks

Transition From Nursery To Reception
by Guest- 10 replies

I am in my second year of teaching in reception, and have just found out that I will be here again next year. This and all the transition between y1 and reception stuff that my school is finally now beginning to do has made me very aware that we do very little to ease transition into our reception classes (from either our own nursery that feeds about half our places, or any other nurserys). We do have a parents meeting in July and individual meetings with parent and child in September before they start. I was wondering what everyone else does?

'Puddle Inspector'
by Guest- 19 replies

I hoped that would get you to read this! I am looking for a proforma that I could use with my little 'building inspector'; he had lined up a row of cones in front of a make-believe puddle "So the children don't fall in and get themselves soaking wet". I drew a puddle and asked if he could draw a puddle too ... "No, 'cause I'm the building 'spector ... I 'spect the work ... everyone, I want you to paint! I'm the building 'spector and puddle 'spector". We found a clipboard and paper but now I want to provide the little 'puddle 'spector' with a proforma to represent one which might be used by a building inspector. Not having any experience of buildings being inspected, …

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice please. I start a new job as a leader soon. There is a LAC within the setting. He has already got a key worker assigned, the question is do i leave it be and leave him with his current key worker or do i take on the child as my one of my key working children bearing in mind that i am also the Designated Child Protection Officer. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you

Hi! Not sure where to post this or if anyone can help but just wondered if anyone had any advice or ideas. I am the music co-ordinator in my school. I myself am a musician and like teaching music but this enthusiasm is not shared by the rest of the staff! I do understand that teaching music must be a bit overwhelming if you have no knowledge or experience of it yourself. We use the Music Express scheme across the school as this seems to be pretty self-explanatory and easy to follow for non-musicians. I have put a folder together for everyone with all the extra resources needed, included printed out and laminated photos, sheets etc ready to make it as easy and accessibl…
