I am very interested to know what the funded part of your nursery day looks like? E.g: How many adult planned activities are there? How many of the 6 areas do you plan to cover in 1 session? What are your adults doing - where are they deployed? How much is child-led or free choice? I am coming across conflicting interests from varying parties, and am in need of some inspiration please.

Having finished my self-evaluation of our Foundation Stage it becomes clear we are falling down in 2 areas. The first one being engaging parents. Has anyone got any ideas about how to improve this? We currently: 1. hold a reception evening for parents of children starting reception where we give a talk about FS curriculum, general school stuff, parents sample a school dinner, look around classroom etc; 2. Hold a curriculum evening in recpetion after children have first started where we talk about the teaching of reading, ways to help at home etc, 3. both nursery and reception hold parents evenings twice a year (aut and spr) term and reception send home a repor…

Does anyone have any advice for dealing with a child who is afraid of leaving the classroom and in particular going to the hall. The child is in a reception class. He started at the begining of september along with the other children, he settled well and is happy in the classroom. However, he cries and gets upset when we go to the hall we go three times a week for p.e dance and drama. I have suggested that mum takes him to the hall snd reassure him but he is still getting upset. Any advice is greatly appriciated thank you.

Oh my god!! has anyone else suffered this? they are coming on the 26th September for a day to look at science (we are a 1 form entry primary school) just wondering if anyone else had had this and of course looking to blow them away with our reception work.
