Hello, has anyone got any other ideas for displaying the children's birthdays? I have previously done a train and trying to think of something different..... Also I am sure I have seen a picture of a display around the book Pants by Nick Sharratt, or am I dreaming it? Most of my last thought before sleep seem to be around ideas to fill up all my blank boards! I have search the all knowing google but found nothing any ideas? Thanks Sharon.

I want to make some general purpose dressing up clothes to stimulate role play. I have been thinking about some simple tabards in a variety of fabrics and perhaps some cloaks. I have an old ELC police tabard I could use as a pattern and I think a length of material with a gathered neckline should work as a cloak. Has anyone done something like this or do you have any other ideas that could work? I have access to a sewing machine but am not clever enough to make patterns for anything! As this will be a self financed project I want to keep costs down and I cant find any commercial patterns that appeal anyway.

Train Ideas For Outside Area
by Guest- 3 replies

I'm new to Reception and want to extend our outdoor provision. Our theme next week is trains. I've thought they could use big boxes to make a model train. We've got a wendy house that we could turn into a train station/waiting room. Has anybody got any more ideas for outside free flow activities linked to trains? Thanks

Hello Everyone, I've been driving myself mad trying to find the link to a website that shows good behaviour reminder strips for children and reminder cards for class display. I saw them when I was searching this site the other day and I forgot to save them to my memory stick. I'm also looking for the 'Learning through Play' leaflets that some kind person posted . I would be really grateful if you could let me know the links for these things. Many thanks for your help. Boogie xx

Songs And Dance

Hi everyone, I think I've just about got my head around planning for a reception class after planning for Yr 6 for last 3 years. However, I've got a bit of a mental block with songs to sing at carpet time and dance lessons. Our head is very keen for a creative development of our curriculum across the board but I just can't think how to begin. Do you have any good resources that you would suggest with songs and also something for dance and movement type activities.? I would be very grateful for help here. Thanks in advance Moisy

Hi, Just wanted to share some good news. I have been promoted to manager of one of the nurseries my boss owns. It is a small nursery with a team of 9 staf and around on average 32 children per day. This all happened on the last day of term and was finalised today as definite. As a result of this, i will no longer be able to do the FD Degree via my local college which i had been accepted on due to not being able to get day release, but i have been accepeted onto the OU to do the degree, and my employers are happy to support me doing it that way. I also have my driving test in October so lots of changes for me ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh . Due to the nursery being a small nu…

Child-initiated Themes

I am really interested in the exciting child -initiated themes that many of you are using (ie not starting with a topic that is pre-planned). This way you can captialise on children's current interestss, and this is what EYFS is recommending and I was wondering - do any of you pull these child initiated themes into some kind of mtp? Or how do you document this in your stp?
