Teaching Assistant In Reception
by Guest- 4 replies

After working in a sessional pre-school for 5 and half years, (as a deputy Supervisor) and recently moving on to another (sessional) pre-school to be Supervisor, which I hated (because of the pre-school, not the position) I am now looking for a change. A job has been advertised for a teaching assistant in the reception/year 1 class of a small rural school. Can anyone tell me if having a level 3 in childcare and working towards a level 4 could be acceptable as qualifications for this job? I presume I would no longer have to do so much unpaid paperwork? If anyone could give me some insight into this position I would be really grateful, I really really dont want to ma…

I was talking to someone from a nursery today who is most upset by a visit from the LEA quality assurance staff. They feel that because when her children start, they are beginning to work at yellow level but are only are beginning to work within green level when they leave for Reception, that they have only made satisfactory progress. This makes her setting only satisfactory. To be good they must be secure green, very good they would have to have acheived most ELG's, so goodness knows what outstanding means. This is a super Nursery which delivers the FS curriculum in the way it should be, and to be told that the children's progress is not good enough has shocked them all.…

Hi I am thinking of doing a 'Reception Wedding' as our class assembly. Just wondered if anyone had any ideas, resources, suggestions for me to consider. I'd appreciate your help. As the teacher, did you support the children by taking an active role, any thoughts would be welcome!

Can anyone tell me what report-writing format they use, in the Foundation Stage? Also any report card comments. I’m finding it hard to find a suitable positive comment about one little girl in particular, who has made very little progress in her Social and Emotional development this term. Thanks Gill

I need you guys to give me some help. I am at present in Yr 6, going to reception in September. Next week I have to have a meeting with the new reception parents. Head teacher wants me to take the helm. Have asked presnt reception teacher for advice on what she has been saying over the last 8 years-she is not prepared to help me!! She is leaving under a cloud and isn't giving an inch. Anyway, I've thought about the usual-practicing getting dressed on own over the summer hols, able to go to toilet own own, buying polo shirt instead of long sleeved cotton shirt for uniform. But now I can't think what else I should say!! I will briefly explain what I plan to do abo…

I am being observed on Tues for 30 mins by my head and he wants to see a KUW activity. Am doing the Frozen TEddy activity - I going to freeze my beat baby and send a little letter with it explaining what it is as I have not done beat baby this year with my class yet. Anyway am going to put an Artic postmark on the parcel and we'll have a brief discussion about what might be inside, look for Artic on globe etc. Just wondered if anyone had any great idea as what to do for my small group activities to follow up. Thought about children thinking of materials to warm the teddy up and maybe gathering these and giving each child a compare bear frozen in a ice cube and timing…
