Growing
by Guest- 7 replies

Hello everyone I have just joined the forum for the first time. I am an NQT foundation stage teacher and at the moment have three year groups within my class from nursery to year 1. My topic for this term is growing as I am about to have some planters built in the playground. I wondered is anyone had any ideas for my planters and also on planning for the three different year groups. At the moment I plan for the reception and use differentiation for the others. I have already accessed the resources you have given for growing and have found them very useful, many thanks. Joan

Hi everyone, Just wondering whilst placing my medium term plans together - has anyone ever come across a resource bank/ modelling of good questioning? Fundimental in our trade I know and a skill that is wisely developed. Apart from the obvious (how, what, where, when & why questions) - anyone lead me to some good web sites or literature? In reflection - how do you get children to ask questions?

Work

This may sound a ridiculous question, but can you say to Reception children 'we are going to do some work now'? There is so much emphasis on learning through play, there often seems that avoidance of the word 'work'. Do other people use different phrases. Would love to other peoples thoughts Laura

Hi I have nearly finished completing my threshold form but am a bit stuck on the pupil progress section. I have read the guidance on the Teachernet website but still don't feel inspired as to how to word it. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Has anyone got a really good method / planning grid which will help me to plan for foundation subjects as a cross-curricular topic block that they could share with me please? I've experimented with a few ideas, and have a medium term overview. The trouble is, the short term planning - I just don't seem to have it right yet. Any help will be gratefully received. Thanks in advance

I just wandered in both Nursery and Reception classes what do you expect your children to leave being able to do ie. at end of Reception turn on computer log onto computer get onto the internet load a cd use a tape recorder- stop, play, rewind, fast forward. have used programmable toys have used technology in role play- some experience of... and in Nursery....... I remember reading an article once where the children in Nursery had inputted speech bubbles into their smart board- all by themselves and i know we live in a ICT world nowaday…
