I have recently been appointed as our school's only teacher governor. Our headmistress announced last week that she is leaving in Dec. Our chair of governors has informed all governors that they are entitled to be on the interview panel for the new head if they so wish. I have been thinking whether or not to do it but I can't decide. Was hoping for some advice. I do think that it will be a really good experience for me as I am only in my second year of teaching and I do think it's important that the staff have a say in who is going to be leading them however I am a bit worried that others may think I shouldn't be on the panel as a recently qualified teacher and a rel…

I hate doing this but I have been asked today to be more vigilant with children accessing the toilets as in our semi open plan school some children are causing a noise issue. Children have been told repeatedly to ask but they dont so Any easy effective ways of limiting the numbers? I do know who it is causing the problem!!

HI ALL, GOT THE DREADED CALL FROM OFSTED ON WEDNESDAY AND GOT INSPECTOR IN ON MONDAY. CAN I ASK YOU ALL WHAT EVIDENCE YOU HAVE TO SHOW STANDARDS ON ENTRY? (WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IS ONE OF THE KEY AREAS HE IS FOCUSING ON). THE OFSTED INSPECTOR IS ALSO OBSERVING A LITERACY LESSON (AM DOING THE HUNGRY CATERPILLAR). HAS ANYONE BEEN OBSERVED BY OFSTED AND GOT ANY FEEDBACK FROM LESSON OBSERVATIONS THAT YOU WOULDN'T MIND SHARING? THANKS

Thrass 'teaching Handwriting, Reading And Spelling

I am Reception leader and literacy co-ordinator. Our school has had training in 'THRASS' to teach reading, spelling (using phonics) and handwriting. I am a keen user of THRASS and I would be interested in gettting in touch with other Reception teachers (or KS1) using this 'scheme' to share ideas and thoughts. Thanks.
