Once again, I'm in the middle of defending why I'm not pushing a GAT pupil with SEN issues on to NC levels and Year 1/2 objectives. I know there are others out there who are fighting this corner too and have found an article which I think is interesting reading (possible ammo too!!)If anyone else has any up-to-date guidance on meeting the needs of GAT pupils in the Foundation Stage I would be most interested. Thanks http://www2.teachernet.gov.uk/gat/media/EYBull206.doc

Help! Behaviour
by Guest- 17 replies

I'm really enjoying my new temp job as reception teacher, but I have one child in my class who I'm finding sooooo frustrating due to his behaviour. It's got to the stage where I'm beginning to doubt myself as a teacher, as he almost seems to have gotten worse over the 2 weeks - especially since I only have a class of 15! The problem is that the behaviour isn't very bad, it's just inappropriate and disrupting. Also, he's one of those children that you really struggle to dislike; well-mannered (mostly!), bright, cheeky in a nice way etc. but I have to admit, my liking him is beginning to falter. The previous teacher left me notes on each child, and his said that he was p…

Investigation Table

We had the dreaded ofsted call today Its been 'on the cards' for a while so it will be nice to get it over and done with! I am in the middle of my planning and am having trouble thinking what to put on my investigation table. We are learning about toys at the moment and I am planning on reading 'Where's my teddy?' next week. This week we had a 'wheels' display as we were talking about toys that move. Does anyone have any ideas? Do you think it is okay to put something out that is not linked? i.e magnets or should I try and link it to the topic? thanks in advance

Ral77 earlier post on investiagtion tables got me thinking - We use a lot of things which were suggested to Ral77 on our investigation table. However children will often visit tje area just once and then not go there for the rest of the week. Any ideas on how we can sustain interest in the area?

I'm looking for ideas. All the children in my class are now very confident with their sound recognition. However there are a group of 6 who are causing me alot of concern. They can probably recognise about 4-6 sounds confidently. They are being taken out of class 3 times a week for reinforcment work but it doesn't seem t be having an affetc. I have spoken to their parents and they assure me that they practice them at home. I have run out of ideas of what to do to help tem. Please help!!!!

Nurture Groups In Reception
by Guest- 2 replies

I am SENCo in a large Primary School. I plan to commence a Nurture Group for a group of Reception Pupils with a range of behavioural and emotional difficulties. We have more than usual this year. Has anyone done similar. If so could they advise on resources programmes? I plan to use SEAL and Persona Doll plus a range of games, toys and activities. I see the group commencing with Circle Time followed by a game or activity. I may even use parachute games etc. Any suggestions would be welcome. Many thanks!
