hello am struggling at moment trying to get assignment finished for Fd on my diseration plan and need to think of a problem solving resource to make for intellectual development of a 2 1/2 yr old. Needs to be simple to make, eye catching etc, brain id frazzled already... has anyone got any super ideas for me. Thanks in advance.

hi at the moment we are struggling with our organisation and the children are too to be honest. ill try and explain what we do then il ask the questions i think that might be best. we have: registration session 1: i do an input then have 2 focused groups ( me with one and ta with another), the rest of the children are choosing from some actvitites that i have set up and actvities that they wish to set up and do. we have snack and break time session 2: this is much the same as above, short whole class input then 2 focused groups, rest independent. lunch then we have plan do review this is the part we are struggling with, the children go wild and…

My outdoor area is basically the playground and it isn't secure so the children can only go outside if I can go with them. I would love to increase the amount of time we spend outdoors. Does anyone have any ideas. I have no classroom assistant for the majority of the day. I would love to hear from anyone in a similar situation.

We have a child in our setting who is nearly 5. When he first joined us in Sept he was painfully shy. I didn't worry too much at first thought once he got to know us he would be fine. By end of Oct he still wouldn't make eye contact with adults and if you spoke to him would put fingers in mouth and would simply nod or shake his head. I spoke to mum who wasn't concerned as she said he was fine at home. However this has continued. He is fine with other children will happily chat and somwtimes has to be told to be quiet for talking at inappropriate times. However he still does not speak to adults. Trying to get my head round phonic planning (yes I know it's last minute ). I have large group of children who know all/most of alphabet inc ch, sh, th. Some who know some and one or two who don't hear any initial sounds or recognise letters. For lower ability group I'm intending them to work in small group with nursery nurse for most 'whole' class inputs. Trouble is, although others might know letters they still can't blend to make cvc words (only 4 in the whole group I would say would be quite confident to do this - and they are ready to move onto long vowel sounds).
