Does anyone know where I can purchase a school register? I normally print one on my computer each week, but I feel that a book would be better for this. or perhaps a software program for schools, which also covers school reports. Thanks Gill

Vision Statements

I wonder if anyone would be kind enough to share their school's vision statement or share any good ones they know of. We're thinking of changing ours and it would be useful to have some inspiration! Thank you.

The World In My Town
by Guest- 2 replies

Hello again I work in a special school with foundation stage children with a wide range of complex special needs. Next term our topic is "The world in our town". At the moment I can't get inspired by the theme, so wondered if anyone could help and give me a bit of motivation please. Obviously I want to make it as interesting and relevant to my children as possible, and I hope to do lots of planning and buying of resources over Christmas. Thanks in anticipation xxxx

Looking through our spring planning we realised we were struggling with the art side of our curriculum -so we were wondering if anyone uses a particular scheme for teaching art to Reception or just really what you get up to - do you teach a particular theme each half term such as printing or tie it more into the children's interest or a topic?

Resources In Areas
by Guest- 3 replies

I'm after a few opinions here. Our reception classroom is currently split into areas such as creative, writing, reading den, small world, construction, sand, water etc... We have the resources in each area for that area. However we are thinking of doing away with the bigger boxes of construction etc.. and having out smaller baskets of resources but a wider choice of say construction and small world. Our thinking is that children can then choose one of the smaller baskets and extend their play more by maybe taking a smaller basket of lego and cars into the sand or some mobilo and people into the water. In the past we have worried that we are limiting the children too mu…

Complex Difficulties
by Guest- 6 replies

We have a pupil in reception with difficulties indicative of a complex learning difficulty. The child insists on running about the unit causing chaos , hurting other pupils, using inappropriate language, refusing to comply and generally being very difficult. We have not had a diagnosis, but believe this child to have complex difficulties or possibly ADHD or both. Any advice on strategies to try would be much appreciated. Staff are at the end of their tether and parents are desperate for additional help for their child. Many thanks
