Review/audit Of Provision
by Guest- 4 replies

Has anyone ever carried out a review / audit of their provision. Our head is keen for us to do this before we have Ofsted. He would prefer that an 'outsider' came in for a more objective view. We don't just want an opinion we want a review based on specific guideline and judgments. However when i asked her she said she had never done one for schools and does not have a format or anything. Has anyone ever done one before and if so would you have a format you would be willing to share.? Many Thanks

Desperate For Date Chart!
by Guest- 9 replies
- 2.4k views
I have had an online version of day/date/weather chart saved as a 'favourite' for a couple of years now, and has been fantastic for whole class IWB use (Y1/Rec). I've got so much out of it! Anyway, I seem to have somehow lost my link & have no idea where I found it in the first place now. Have done LOADS of internet searching, but to no avail. Has anyone got any ideas...PLEASE?! I miss it!!! Thanks.

Help Please!
by Guest- 3 replies

Hi Please can you help me.. I'm looking for a couple of videos downloads I found on the forum a little while back. The videos showed 2 very experienced early year advisors talking through some good early years practise in a school that they had visited. The theme of one the videos was on independence in the EY classroom. I can't remember where it was but I know that I found the link on this forum. Please help if you can, I want to share it with the team. Thanks Trudie

Able Reception Children Resources
by Guest- 3 replies

Hi all, I am new to the foundation stage (now a Reception teacher coming from Year 3!) Firstly - what a God send this site is. I thought I was losing the plot the first few weeks, trying to get my head around profiles and a new curriculum etc. I am really enjoying it now though! It was such a relief finding out other people feel the same. Secondly - I could do with some help finding resources. My year group partner and I are trying to put together some workbooks for able (A&T) reception children. We are scratting around trying to find bits and bobs to extend them, but most KS1 aimed stuff is a bit too much of a jump. We could do with some word level (HF …

Hi all, I need some suggestions as to what we could do as a 'performance' for the parents to watch at christmas! Reception are going to do Whoopsa Daisy Angel and they have someone to play the piano for them, unfortunately we have no one who is even the teeniest bit musical in year 1 and so we have to rely on tapes CD's etc for our backing! We have about 96 children altogether and I'd like to do something a bit more than just sing carols and I'd like to involve as many of the children as we can but as to what we can do I don't have a clue!! Help!!

Assembly.... Help!
by Guest Really- 2 replies

It is my assembly at the end of the week and our main focus this week will be recycling which ties in nicely with materials. I was thinking of doing an assembly related to it but as I have to involve all 30 Reception children I am struggling for ideas. My other option is to act out the story of Mr Gumpy's outing, we are doing that as a big book this week in Literacy and the children can show some of their work so all the class would be involved. Do I go for the recycling assembly or not? Or has anyone any ideas of a big book that touches on recycling/materials (not the 3 little pigs though). My brain seems to have stopped working! Thanks.

Reading Talk To Parents

Hi I'm sure weve been here before but I can't find anything. I am doing the talk to parents about reading and how they can help on Tuesday .I did have a folder and sheets for them but have lost them on another laptop at school! I also feel that my old talk will need to change slightly to put a little more emphasis on 'phonics' and not so much about using alsorts (the searchlight method)of strategies.I am going on our LEA's course on phonics in two weeks so that will be interesting! Thanks Tinkerbellx

Handwriting

I would really value your experiences/opinions/knowledge! I have been teaching Reception for many years now! but I am still questioning myself, trying to find the best way etc etc for the children. I have been in my present school for nearly 3 years and do love it. We have a very passionate Literacy Manager who is also a Year 6 teacher and she feels very VERY strongly about joined handwriting from Reception. I have only been too happy to go along with this because I feel strongly about supporting whole school initiatives and trust the research that says it is for the best... BUT it has kind of hit me like a bolt out of the blue that actually my children fin…
