Hi As the new ofsted format is asking for pupils views on lots of issues in school, I wandered how infant schools are supposed to collect them If we were a primary we would have a school council but our age range is 3-7yrs. We do discuss issues around circle time, but it's collecting evidence, that worries me. Any opinions, help, would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, Does anyone have real tools in their setting? I spoke to another group that have real screwdrivers and hand held drills available for their 2 to 4 year olds in their "Building site" role play area and they said the children prefer them to the plastic variety.

An Fsu Problem ?

Does anyone else in a FSU find that sometimes other staff in some areas of the FSU are not reinforcing learning objectives where relevant..e.g. not reinforcing number in the number room? literacy in the relevant area, etc Just feel like I am 'carrying' the burden of trying to meet objectives/ profile points on my own for the whole unit at times and it seems to be happening more frequently. I obviously value free play/ child-initiated too but struggling to find a balance when I feel like I'm doing all the teaching in the unit. Just want some reassurance !!! I don't want to 'grass' on any staff and wondered if it is a common issue?

From Early Years Co-ordinator To Transition Manager?
by Guest Alix- 8 replies

I have an interesting question to all of you out there! Is the role of early years co-ordinator changing to that of a transition mamager responsible for EYs and KS1? My Headteacher seems to think so, and I am keen to know WOULD YOU TAKE THIS ROLE ON? With the talk of a 'seamless' move into KS1 from reception class, is this new role the best way forward? My concern is that EYs is distinct in character from a YR1 classroom and I wonder if this will pose new challenges that are not yet anticipated such as meeting national curriculum needs and stress of statutory ed verses non statutory ed? I would appreciate your thoughts and experiences!!! Alix.

Hello I am wondering if anyone can help. I have seen a picture somewhere of what I can only describe as a wooden bench seat with a steering wheel and indicators, peddles etc. Its like the cockpit of a vehicle. I remember it being yellow. I have tried searching on the internet for it but as im not sure of what it would be called I am coming up with allsorts. If you have one in your setting or have seen the item I am badly describing could you point me in the right direction. Many Thanks Michaela

Moderation Help

Hi everyone.. We are being moderated this year on areas of PSED (dispositions and attitudes) and my mind has gone blank on other area being moderated (K+U of W I think ? ) Both moderation courses in my area are either full , or not running due to lack of interest ! Please could you post any details as you get them on what evidence they expect for these areas and what you are going to show them? Thanks... they are actually coming into our setting so I want to make sure that I'm doing the same as others. Would you just do a top/middle/bottom collection of evidence?
