We will start attending Infant assembly once a week / building up to whole school assemblies end of this term or start of next year. Putting opinions to the side on the subject (in a recent lecture given by Penny Tassoni - she gave the advice that you should at least wear interesting shoes as thats about as far as the children's attention will go.....!!!) We are not a faith school - but it's regarded as an important part of the daily routine (I tend to agree for older ones when entertaining and interesting - but rarely find myself feeling entertained or interested &…

Following a recent performance management observation which went fine one of the areas for develoment was to have key questions next to the independent / adult activities that we had set up for the children to do - I assume mainly for the adult 's benefit as my children haven't quite mastered the skill of reading yet!!- now I have key questions for an adult focussed activity but for child intiated activities this would I assume be hard as I don't know what the children would do but would be possible for the independent activities we have - so just was wondering what others did -

I run a pre school on a schools site. (We rent the premises from the school). I have just been made aware that the school do not have upto date policies. (Although someone else is saying they do not have any!). As ofsted are due in soon the governors have asked for this area to be looked at. My assistant from the pre-school ihas just joined the governors and has been asked to find all the policies that relate to a school. (Child protection and so on) I would like to help her and was wondering if my policies that I have at pre school can also be used in a school? Could someone please advise me. Thank you

Those Little Focused Times...

I have a boy in my class this year who has global delays and has little (barely any) language. His social skills because of this are poor He is happy enough in school (now) and access a lot of resources independently. I have some support for him some of which I use in the classroom during session times. But some I use for him to be withdrawn for 1-to-1 focused work. I was just wondering if anyone had any other ideas from the norm to the kind of things I can have my TA be doing. We do very simple sound work (one letter a week), fine motor games, turn taking games, animated stories and audio tapes, cutting skills etc etc... any other fun ideas? Cheers ~ Porl

Hi, I wanted to know if there is anyone out there who has on hand these books and could have a look on what things the children will find in the related pages, be it words that begin with these corresponding letter sounds or that the sound is in the middle or the end. Sorry... I left my copies at school . Thanks in advance! Why is it that the topic title comes wrong? I keep editing it for "Ss" and "Gg" and it comes out "ss" and "gg". Is there something wrong, Steve?
