Hi everyone, just wondered how plan, do , review worked in your reception classes at the moment?? I'm new to reception and would welcome any ideas and experiences you may have. At the moment my children give me an oral plan (from next week they will use a book to draw poctures, more able have a go writing) then they go and DO (the majority change their minds when they see something more interesting that their own plan!!) then we review at the end and this is when the children say what they could do better (actually they say what they will do next time) they find this very difficult. Looking forward to reading your experiences as I dont feel this is plan, do, review at its…

Hi everyone, Does any of you know how does the Itchy Twitchy song goes? I hear part of the song via the web page, but not all of the refrain. It seems to be a wonderful song and I would love to use it with my children at school. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I am just trying to encourage more use of our outdoor environment and have managed to persuade the head to let us buy some wet weather clothing. I am looking to buy umbrellas, raincoats and wellies. Does anybody know a good company to buy from that that are fairly reasonable in cost. Thanks in advance

I have been using JP for 2 years now and with great success. I was just wondering whether anyone had any different activites to help reinforce the sounds. This is what I do at the moment: Clay/Playdough forming the sounds. Sand - mix of sound tiles and the children find them and sort into correct hoops Paint - forming them or choose a picture of something that begins with a particular sound and paint it and then do the initial sounds. Chalk boards for the children to practice forming sounds. Cutting and sticking - they cut out sounds and stick them on the correct piece of paper. Water - ? I have a very good class this year who did JP in nursery…

Does anyone know what the legal requirements are for children under five in a reception class, in terms of the number of adults needed. We have opened 2 small reception classes which will build to 2 full classes of 30 after xmas. We operate the 2 classrooms as a unit, and although the two rooms are joined, there is a partial dividing wall, meaning that if you are situated in one end, you cannot see most of the other classroom. At present we have 26 children (which will probably rise to 30). I'm sure that previously, children under five had to have a teacher and a full time assistant and that it was a legal requirement, but can't find anything in prin…
