Interactive Whiteboards

We are going to have an interactive whiteboard fitted in our classroom during the Easter Holidays. I am v. excited but my ICT Manager has asked me which I would like - Smart or promethean. He thinks smart will be best for FS (unlike rest of the school who have promethean.) Apparently you can touch the screen and 'brush' it etc The trouble is I really don't have any experience of whitebaords. Any helpful tips or recommendations? Also would you recommend placing the board quite low down so that the children can easily reach it? Are there any disadvantages to this? Hope someone can help! PS I have 'searched' for previous posts and read the stuff with in…

Physical Play

Hi I'm looking at reorganising our sessions in september. We are a pre-school in a church, we don't have an out door space but we do have use of a large hall, i wondered how long people spend in their out door area/physical play. The problem we had last year was that we were doing our physical play at the end and running out of time, we were only spending 10 mins in the large hall with the bikes etc........ I wondered how long other groups spend on bikes, climbing frames etc. i feel their must be a better way of organising it. If i have it open up the large hall during the whole session i need another member of staff which i don't have.

Hi all just catching up on some reading because I have time to Just read an article in the TES from July 14th about some Bexley schools who are using the foundation stage's six areas to teach across the whole school. The article was a very interesting read and the website has some good stuff on it (in my opinion). Just thought I would pass it on. Have a look for yourself here

Spending Spree On The Outdoors!
by Guest- 25 replies

We have just been given £2000 to spend on outdoor play. At the moment we have a small shed, a fairly small tarmaced area, bikes and scooters. We want to spend the money wisely and would appreciate any ideas on things which you have bought or made which have worked really well. We would love to make the playground more 'natural' however the head isn't keen on us digging up a patch of concrete to make a very small grassy/woodland type space. Any ideas would be welcomed!!

Does anyone have a policy or something written on using the outdoors in all areas of the curriculum? We have a wonderful field and last year started veggie patches for the 4 classes. The head has just retired and has given us a brilliant outdoor climbing wall, wood chip path underneath which leads ito the vegggie patch so I want to enthuse the staff to get out and use these facilities. Anyone? Tinkerbellx
