Our school is losing our piano-playing member of staff in December. Can anyone recommend any good CDs of instrumental music to Catholic hymns (not too slow and dull!!)? Have found one called No pianist for assembly? No problem! - anyone know of it? Is it any good? Thanks Green Hippo x

Hi all, This is my first time on the forum and I am looking for some help please. I am the new co-ordinator of an Early years unit within a large primary school and I cannot find written down anywhere what the ration should be at a lunchtime with lunchtime supervisors with regards reception children. We have 2 classes of 26 children and our headteacher provides us with 2 lunchtime supervisors for 45 minutes. I am finding the behaviour of the children is affected by the afternoon session and activities and resources are being ruined during this time. I am worried that one day if there is an accident or a toileting issue we wouldn't be covered??? Thank you in adv…

Hi everyone, I am being observed next week and the main focus has to be maths with a number/counting focus. This week we have had an autumn/harvets focus which I think might possibly stick with as the children are enjoying it. Any ideas for number activities i can do next week as i am seriously lacking in inspiration at the moment and panic will start setting in soon! Thanks Ems xx

Hi All Just wondered if anyone knows a good book on Greek myths suitable for reading to Reception children? One of my class is very interested in them and I'd like to share some at school but most of the books we have in the school library are more suited to older children. Thanks!

Using Fingers When Adding
by Guest- 2 replies

Do you find it helpful to ask reception children to use their fingers to help them add? I find that with small numbers they generally know the answer anyway, or could easily see it using objects. With bigger numbers eg 4+3 they get very confused by the physical mechanics of getting out the fingers and remembering which ones are up or down. Is this shocking? Are fingers helpful?

I am trying to organise some training for EYFS practitioners and want to host training about the teaching of phonics/letters and sounds in an inspirational way/ play based etc. Has anyone recently attended any really good training recently? if so who delivered it and have you got contact details please?
