Hi everyone our ICT co ordinator has asked me to develop a simple ICT record for the Reception class that breaks down K&U scale point 7 a little more succinctly. Before I do this (I was thinking of an A4 sheet with a few simple statements such as I can use a CD player with/without suport; I can use a paint program with/without support etc) Has anyone got anything similar that they would be willing to share rather than reinvent the wheel? Of course if there isn't I will be glad to post one if/when I get round to doing it thanks all

hi, I am doing a GTP at a special school and have been told today that I need to interview for the post of the teacher there next year competing against the class teacher that works there now as there is only one job (she only had a years contract) any way ignoring the fact that its a horrible situation to be put in and the atmosphere is terrible i need to give the head a covering letter for this post. As I am new to all this what sort of things should I put in this other than the fact I want to apply for the job?? Thanks for any help. I am also being observed on wednesday for teacher directed MD so if anyone has any great counting games they wish to share may…

as it says really, how much of your day do you spend doing teacher directed activities. and do you have set 'lessons' a day or in your daily plan is it just TD and then you chose what area? At the mo we do CLL and MD as teacher directed nearly everyday but seeing as all areas should have equal importance im thinking we should just specifiy TD on our daily timetable then sort the areas out within the context of the whole week to ensure we are providing a balanced curriculum?? what do people think? I'm still training at the mo but still good to try and make suggestions!! Also do you all plan for specific activities that address each ELG or just take it that som…

Hi everyone. Happy Easter! I've used the font 'SASSOON PRIMARY INFANT' loads of times. We've got it at school but I would really like it for my own laptop. Does anyone know where I can download it? I've looked on the internet and the cheapest I've come up with is $22 (about £12-13, I think). I don't mind paying this but this particular website won't take my switch card (need Visa / Mastercard etc). Thanks Kelly

Move To Year One
by Guest- 3 replies

Hey all. I'm moving to year one in September with my present reception class - I'm looking forward to it a great deal ! It'll be my first time in my own room after spending the last three years (first three in teaching career!) in a large, shared teaching space. I'm WAY excited. Thing is, the excitement is slowly but surely turning into apprehension! I have no idea where to start!!!!!! I'm happy to say that the school is working towards continuous provision in year one and the head is very supportive of this. I'm taking the profile with me this year and will use the Continuing the Learning Journey folder. I was wondering whether you all could give me some advic…

Hi, Do any of you have any ideas that we could use for our Reception Concert in two weeks - we need some instrumental music (cd) that the children could move freely to which has an atmospheric, wintery feel to it. Any ideas?

Hi I have been invited for interview for a TLR post with responsibillity for Literacy. I have to teach a year 2 class and got the lesson sorted for that..... However this morning I recieved the letter stating the details for the interview and they want me to take a piece of literacy work to illustrate the importance of literacy for discussion at the interview. My main problem is that the interview is Monday afternoon.... so time is really limited to gather work samples. I did a research project last year on writing in the role play corner with foundation stage children and wonder whether samples of the writing I gathered then would illustarte the importance …

Should I Apply?

Help, I am having a real dilemna at the moment. I am currently the teacher in charge at a maintained nursery round the corner from my house with a part time head teacher (for 6 years). There are two jobs going in nearby towns that are both for deputies of children's centres. I am swinging daily from being enthusiastic and wanting to apply to feeling that I have not finished what I have started at the nursery I am at. Ideally I would like to be looking for jobs this time next year. However these posts have come up now. There is the requirement of flexible hours - does this mean working in the holidays? (I have a 4 year old so I like to share this time with h…
