hi all thought you might find this useful. we are consolidating sh th ch so ive done up a quick powerpoint. the idea being that we use it on the IWB, children have sh ch th fans and hold up the corresponding phoneme to the picture. If you can use it then its yours at no extra charge

Hi I am going to review the information and booklets we send to parents prior to children coming into Nursery and Reception. It would be useful to know what others do: we send a pack out asking for general information regarding the child, and some suggestions for the child to become more independent. We also explain about our Handwriting, reward system etc etc etc and stagger timings for entry into reception we do a phonics and handwriting parent session, and parents are invited in to sample school dinners, etc I know I am waffling, but any other useful suggestions would be great!!!

Hi all I am interested to know what routine others have in place for their new intake in September. We have 1 intake per year. With our intakelast year we staggered entry as follows Half class 9 - 11:30 other half 1 - 2:30 for 3 days full class 9 - 1 for 3 days Full class 9 - 2:30 for 3 days Full class full time. We did a long stagger here as we had a large class of 44 children Howver there were a lot of complaints from parents as it made it difficult for them to arrange people to pick children up and child care etc.. Whilst i appreciate that it is tricky for parents i felt very strongly that our main concern had to be settling children into school as care…

Does anyone use the playing with sounds book. We have a copy in school but has never been used. I really want to get to grips with it. However i seem to be very lost with it i realise i am being very dim but i can't seem to fathom it out?! We have a five year old boy in our reception class. Since he joined us he has continually 'messed' himself. Our school policy is that we are not allowed to clean a child who is in that much of a mess. Children who have simple wet themselves is fine however anything more thanthis the policy is that we have to ring the parents. It got to the stage where we were having to ring mum twice a day to ask her to come and change him. Mum became increasingly angry at having to leave work yet our head was adament that we had to stick to school policy. One reason for this is that before children start with us we ask parents if their child is toilet trained and she told us he was.…
