Synthetic Phonics 1 2

Hi everyone Have had a day closure today and our school invited several local schools to attend a day's course which involved an Introduction to Synthetic Phonics with Debbie Hepplewhite. This involves teaching the children to decode text using their sound, segmenting and blending knowledge alone. She is saying that at present we are largely teaching children to read by guessing the word. We are not actually teaching them to read the word because we are not teaching them the all letter sounds and how t…

Anybody know any easter songs I could sing with 3 and 4 year olds, I used to know one about a bunny going round with a baskets of eggs and dropping one but can't remember it. Would be grateful for any songs or circle games that you know about easter. Thanks

Hi Everyone, I have a job interview on Wednesday! Only found out today! I have got to teach a mixed ability group of 12 children from R and Y1 a maths activity of my choice. Need advice as to what to do as my head is now spinning and I don't know where to start. My first thoughts are to do maths from a story and try and link to VAK then make sure I match to SStones, ELG's and key objectives for R and Y1 from NNS. Initial possible stories thought of: 1. Goldilocks (maybe obvious) and do measurement 2. Mr Gumpy's Outing and link to partitioning: 6 animals, how many in the water, how many in the boat: what's the number story? Also think I should put points for develop…
