Learning Thru Music

Does anybody know of any good cds that can be used to aid children's learning within the classroom? ie. linked to Numeracy/Literacy or other subjects, or to 'inspire', 'calm' etc. Head wants a push on the use of music in lesson time (not just when music is taught). Would be grateful for any ideas and advice!

Hope you can help. We have been possed a question by our headteacher and she want an answer- that is better than gut reaction, or we hope they are achieving their full potential...or we know the child... The question is How do we know that the children we teach are achieving their full potential? How can we show this? Its a question she was asked by our attached inspector, but she wants our views on it as soon as possible. Hope that someone has some wise words. Thanks in advance L

Posted this once under misc, but decided not the right place, so giving it another go in here! I have another request for advice. Does anyone have any good schemes/policies in place for teaching spelling - Both myself and our other Y1/2 teacher are concerned at the lack of definition we have... I teach Y1 Literacy, she teaches Y2. I follow LCP spellings where appropriate as have nothing else, she follows a spelling scheme designed for Y2-3 (name escapes me at present). We just feel there is no progression or links between Year 1 and 2. Any ideas??? Also - teaching phonics. I have no training in teaching phonics and am somewhat unsure which is the best scheme to fo…

Hello! This year, we didn't put on our traditional Christmas Nativity performance. It's a long story, but our new unit had only just opened, and we felt that it would be unfair on our new nursery children. Anyway, we promised ourselves, and the parents, that we would do something later on in the year. Later on in the year is fast approaching but the only problem is that, apart from Golden Apple publications, I don't seem to be able to find any plays that are suitable for Nursery and Reception- apart from the usual Christmas ones, and I don't think we'll be able to get away with Whoops a Daisy Angel in summer, no matter how sweet it is! Anybody got any reccommendation…
