I really have to get this off my chest. I have a parent who seems to be negative about everything i do. Her child has come from a very formal school. He was in Reception and has now moved to my school in year 1. Although he can write a couple of sentences his letter formations are poor. I explained to her that he needs to write bigger in order to form his shapes better because he has been introduced to a formal way of writing too soon. Anyway she came to me today and showed me a tiny postcard he had written before starting with me and then another tiny postcard he had written yesterday. He was trying to write much bigger but obviously could fit very little on the tiny pos…

Hello guys! Havent been here for a while but i'm sure you can help me! I'm starting a new "Pre Reception" class (independent school!) and need help. The room has been redecorated and murals of minibeasts/flowers have been painted. I have tables home corner etc but it's looking very bleak still. I need some ideas to make it a little more welcoming/cosy any ideas appreciated.

hi I am about to inherit a small outdoor area for my reception class, its a small long narrow section, without space for bikes / scooters (although there is a separate session where they can use these in the playground).. although its small, it has a paved area, a grassy bit which could have a digging area, and a covered section... i am really looking for inspiration, does anyone have any good suggestions for this area, or have photos of their areas that they could share.... i am really looking forward to having it, now i just want to make sure i make the best use of it possible... look forward to hearing from you thank you bb

I'm trying to write a simple note that will go with teddy for the parents with some simple rules and suggestions for activities has anyone who has done something similar before got any advice, or suggestions as to what could go in the note to parents.., thank you On another note, I hope to set up a link between my current reception class setting and a school that I have contact with abroad, i just wondered if anyone had any suggestio…

Hi ya everyone I'm just wondering if anyone does a letter of the week in their reception class and how they organise it. Do you base all the areas of learning around that letter e.g h, hula hoops, height, hundred, hippos, Hungary, hats, handprints. Aswell as doing a letter of the week do you then do other topics. I'm new to reception, so would appreciate your comments and thoughts on this. Thank you Laura
