Hi everyone, I have a child who is going to school in January who is far ahead in his general development than his peers. We have implemented different activities to 'Stretch' him but have found that we are running out of ideas. We feel that because he is so bright and fed up this week he is getting disruptive. Mum uses workbooks at home with him and says he can add all the numbers up to 10 !?! Obviously we want to avoid workbooks and engage him in other activities. We have written a 'Learning plan' for last half term so we can extend on that, but am not sure what to call it. Hope you can help, Luv Aunty x

I am wondering if anyone can help me. I have a delightful little girl in my reception class who has Down Syndrome. She has settled well into school but we are now stuck for ideas for valuable resources and activities that we can provide for and undertake with her. I would appreciate any advice on teaching down syndrome children and where i can get valuable and useful resources. Ladylou

Work Experience

I have taken over looking after the work experience children who come into school for 2 weeks. (They come from the local High School). I would really like to put together a little booklet to give them as at the moment I feel like I introduce myself and then pass them on the class teacher that is having them. Anyone got any ideas for the format? Thanks.

I have been asked to work with my Reception group as with the 'old' Reception style ... nothing like the Foundation Stage. I have to put enfasis on Literacy and Numeracy over the balance that we should have with all the 6 areas. Even more... until now I tried to work with a rich source of good books to work around topics (SS and ELG for sure) and now I have to just work with the ORT and Jolly Phonics ... but both don't match 100% . Boy! I can understand that the HT has a lot of work, but each day it just makes me wonder how much does he know of the FS. We are not a British school, yet we do use the British curriculum. I know that maybe you canno…
