Hello Was wondering if anyone had any advice.... My head has spoke about trying to connect our feeder playgroup to the school. Has anyone got any experience with this process? What needs to be done? How do you go about it....etc, etc!!! Would it become our school nursery? I like the idea but can't get my head around it. Thanks in advance if anyone can help Claire

As a play leader in a preschool , we work from the eyfs guidelines , what does a school work from ... I know there is the national curriculum, but does it go into detail regarding welfare requirements ? I had an interesting comment from a head teacher last week, and I'm trying to see if the welfare requirements of the eyfs ( in a preschool ) setting, differ to those required for primary school aged children If anyone can point me to some info I'd be grateful !

Hi In my Year R class we are doing a topic on 'water', but in the outside role play and large construction area the children have become pirates! I want to follow this interest-we have already made treasure maps , flags, hats, swords and eye patches, but I need ideas of how to develop this subject further. My own knowledge is pretty limited! Can anyone recommend some good stories, computer games or non-fiction books and has anyone got any good ideas for pirate themed activities? Many thanks.

Handwriting Rescue

I was just wondering if anyone had ever used the scheme Handwriting Rescue and what you thought of it? Does it work as the basis for a whole school scheme from foundation onwards? How much is contained within the scheme and how much would you have to add to it yourself? (Practise sheets, ideas for pre handwriting activities etc)

Hi everyone, I am just coming to the end of my NQT year in a mixed reception/ year one class and I have got to give a presentation (using power point) to parents who have children starting in reception. This will be my first time doing this! Does anyone have any pointers about what to include or a copy of a presentation I may be able to look at? Any help greatly appreciated!! I have a vague idea of what I'm going to put together but with the new curriculum and assessment format coming in, I'm a little panic stricken!! Thank you!

Hi all, I am coming to the end of GTP and have just accepted a job in a nursery class. I will be working with one other established teacher 2 nursery nurses and a nursery assitant. I have previously worked in this nursery as a nursery nurse. I would appreciate some advice from experienced teachers and any one who works in a nursery with another teacher as to how it works and how you run the nursery. Do you have responsibility for areas of the classroom? how is planning shared? do you have your own class? Any advice greatly appreciated. Jo

Hi I have been advised by our new headteacher to carry out home visits as part of our induction process in the summer term for the new children starting in September. I have never done a home visit before and was just wondering if anyone had any advice about what to do, what questions to ask, what to take etc, just need some general advice and tips!!! Also the headteacher has suggested we carry out a risk assessment to present to governors in advance. I was wondering if anyone had completed one before that I could have a look at. Thank you in advance for all our advice
