Hello I have an interview soon for a TA position and part of the interview is to 'work with up to 4 children KS1 age to help them with their reading. My prior experience is with Pre-school children so I wondered if anyone had any suggestions how I should pitch this for their age. It says I can take a book or borrow one of theirs. Usually I would take my own as I would be familiar with it. I obviously know how to share a book with the children but as it says help them with their reading, should I be asking them to read the book?, take turns, or will group interactions be suitable where we talk about the illustrations, predicting what will come next, rhyming etc…

More and more on displays I try to use speech bubbles and thought bubbles, but then I spend ages cutting them out. Does anyone know where you can get ready cut out ones, it would save me a lot of time and encourage other staff to use them if they just have to grab it, write it, stick it on the wall... I do have a stash of them photocpied A5 size but need to trim each time. Here's hoping. Tks

Senco Task For Interview
by Guest- 6 replies

I have an interview at the end of this week, along with an observed lesson. The part of the day that is causing me some angst is a task. The role comes with SENCo, i did this role 8 years ago when i had no kids but its been a while. I have been shortlisted with them knowing this and they are offering to fully train me up. I however feel rather unnerved at the prospect of a 'SENCo task' which i will have to carry out on the day - no prep necessary.... any hints on what I should think about? read up on?? Thinking it might be along the lines of ...what would you do if you saw/ or had a child with... any ideas greatfully accepted!!

Hi all I am a Year R teacher and am looking for some practical advice. I am about to buy an extra shed for my outside area. This will be to store resources, mainly bikes. There is so much choice out there-wood, plastic, metal-sliding doors, opening doors. Has anyone got any tips, preferences, pros or cons? My existing shed is wooden, but it was already in place when I started at my school. As I am ordering the new one, I want to make sure I am choosing the best possible option. Many thanks
