I have to plan my first ever assembly as a student teacher and it is to the whole school and parents! Our topic is ‘myself’ so I am planning to do it on that. Can anyone share their ideas on how they have done this – any songs, poems, rhymes you can suggest? Thank you!

I am currently trying to put together an early years co-ordinator file, as there doesn't appear to be one at present. Just wondered about the types of things I should be including in it. So far I have the following: Early Years policy Action plan 2004-2005 Evaluation of action plan 2003-2004 Audit of resources Information about the process we went through to get our covered play area What else needs to be included?? Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Love Tinyone

Indoor Sand/water Tray
by Guest- 21 replies

I have a huge sand and a huge water tray which remain outside year-round. They are sheltered from the rain, which is ok for the sand, but I rarely use the water tray in the winter, as it is just too cold. I am looking for a versatile (but exciting) sand/water tray to use in the classroom during the colder months and welcome any suggestions as I have not found anything that excites me yet! It can't be too big or expensive as space and money are limited!!! I am desperate to get my sand/water play up to scratch and welcome your advice! Thanks in advance!

After a lengthly discussion amongst our reception staff about the structure of the day we have decided that whilst our mornings have a good structure our afternoons often seem to be a bit wishy washy and I was just wondering what people find works best for them, any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hello I am a receptoin/year 1 teacher. I have recently changed my style of teaching for year one to include child intiated and continuos provision. However i find planning slightly difficult and i would like to plan in the same way for year one as i do for reception. Eventually i would like to create a document of year one objectives similar to the profile. I think this is going to take some time so i wondered if any one out there has done one yet to save some time. thanks

I was on a behaviour course last week and as we were talking about timeouts one fellow teacher said she used a big egg timer to measure the minute away from the class. I have been desperately trying to find one of these since, does anyone know where i could find one? I've tried ebay and they're generally small and are made of glass, also they're usually for 3 minutes which is to long. Please help! Cheers x

We have started purchasing the ORT scheme for use in our Foundation Unit and to extend up into school. Has anyone got a typed list of the books that can be used as a reading record as I am about to type one out and it would save me lot's of time. I am sure ORT do one but we have only bought some of the materials and can't afford any more until the new financial year! Help please! Sue

Have you found Mcdonalds are friendly and helpful to schools or not? Just after some extra ideas and testing the waters before i start asking for happy meal boxes! Thanks!
