Targets
by Guest- 11 replies

On our reports this term we have been asked to write a target. This is the first time we have had to do this. Some of my targats were, To further develop his self confidence, To concentrate for longer and develop his listening skills, To further develop his awareness of others in group discussion and listen with more care etc. The deputy is not happy with them and said they should be for the child and in appropriate language for the child. Does anyone have any child friendly targets i could have a look at to get her off my back. /l

Hi everyone I ought to have more ideas on this one but have found my mind has gone blank. My nephew aged 5 & 9 months and therefore in year 1 is beginning to struggle in school. Many of the homework activities he is given are very formal and were in Reception and he is not interested(surprise!!!). His mother is not unduely worried as he is a bright boy but I am surprised from my own experiences that he has not taken off more although I know for many and especially boys it is still early days. It may be relevant that this child had quite severe hearing problems at 2 but these were corrected with grommits and he came on in leaps and bounds once these were inserted. …

Circle Time

I'm being observed doing circle time with my class next week - has anybody got any good ideas? Our topic this half term has been food and I was wondering about taking in a basket of different sorts of food and letting children choose something from the basket and say something about it ... but I'm not sure - it doesn't feel madly inspiring. Any ideas welcome ... please! It doesn't have to be food related. The observation is on Pancake Tuesday. Haricroft

Does anyone know the words to 'twinkle twinkle chocolate bar' by John Foster. I think it's the name of a poem as well as the name of a collection of poems. It's given as an example of what to use in the medium term literacy planning. Harricroft

Hi everyone! I'm new to the foundation stage and to this site so I must say a huge thankyou to everyone for the help I've recieved from you all. I only hope I will be able to be of some help when I've got myself sorted! However, I'm not sure when that will be! I'm finding it all quite difficult!! But am thoroughly enjoying myself.
