I've been given (well not personally of course) some money to spend specifically on 'tansition' equipmenet with a view to extending good FS practice into year one. There are a couple of issues though. 1. convincing the year one teachers that life doesnt revolve around the worksheet. 2. lack of space! The year one classes are tiny for classes of 30, no support and mostly EAL. I know that we have discussed this before but I cant use the search faciltity yet. I also cant access th 'smooth transtiions' book either. so for those of you thqat like a challanege, what would you buy?

I have just received a phone call from my maths co-ordinator who has apparently just had an inspirational thought...she is leading this weeks staff meeting and has asked me if I will set up and run a short, FS style maths investigation for the other members of staff to participate in. As it is Sunday evening( ) and I'm not feeling anywhere as near inspired as her, I am calling on all of you to assist me! The investigation can be about any aspect of maths but I obviously want to demonstrate to certain other members of staff that are very unaware of FS that the children are learning something even though they are up and about and not writing anything down! My head has just asked me to do a board for parents informing them of the big picture. We do topic planning over 2 years and have a topic board for parents to look at. Not sure what she means.
