Just after some advice for a child i have starting in my class -as yet he is not statemented but was assessed by the ed-psych in the nursery and as a result is having 18hrs support when i get him. I am trying to set up a task board for him so he kows exactly what is ahead of him throughout the day and have been looking for some simple symbols for classroom activities, (e.g. carpet, pe) but am having difficulty finding any which aren't going to cost me the rest of my years budget. hi there everybody I'm looking for some expert help here. I want to make some dressing up costumes for my Reception class. I have looked in the 'Three Bears' catalogue and was very inspired but also very put off by the prices . So off I did trot down to the rag market today and bought lots of cheap material. However... i haven't a clue where to start. Is there anyone out there that can give me help, email, fax me with a few simple patterns. I would like to make Red riding hoods cape (the hood part probably being the trickiest), and a king/queen/princess gown and cape. here's hoping that some out there has lots of talent cheers liza

Hi Guys, I'm playing with ideas for the first few days in reception, I've got some great ideas off this board for activities and games but i am wondering how much to do. On the first day i wanted to introduce a few rules ie stopping and listeing, getting into a line etc. Then basicly circle time to get the class talking and to help me get to know them etc while doing this i'll introduce the topic of holidays and then we'll do some work on that. After break i wanted to something on numeracy like a few games and then some number recognition. After lunch i want to play some more games to help with the names and then get them to do collages of their faces to go o…

In the research part it says that all teachers should have knowledge of THRASS but i've never heard of it. Can anybody give me some information. Thanks

I work in a Foundation Unit, with Reception and Nursery children in it, in a small Primary school. As Part of broadening the curriculum, we have whole school topic weeks. The first week back is myths and legends and we have to base our work for that week round that theme. I am a bit stuck as all the myths and legends i can find are more for older children. I would really appreciate any ideas. Thanks.

I want to create a permenent board in my class called either a golden or celebration board. This is where i hope to fix post it type notes for special things that happen in my class-e,g if i hear a child being kind/v.polite etc. I hope to refer to, and praise these occurances, during circle time either at the end of each day or the week. Does anyone do anthing similar or have a better idea? I want the board to focus on good as opposed to bad, which i have seen in many of my…
