I know its the holidays and the last thing peolple want to think about is reports.... but..... what software did you use to write your reports this year and what do you think of it? Does it have spellchecker and grammer checker etc? We have used report assist for 2 years and I have been asked to look at different packages for next year. Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thank you L

F/s Profile&additional Targets
by Guest- 10 replies

Hi! I've been a member of the NUT for 8 years now and tried to phone this evening for advice on the workload in the foundation stage. Ironically, there was no one in the office as I didn't get in till 7pm! Does anyone else have to set curricular targets in addition to the MOUND of paper work we have just had to complete for the f/stage profile? Our school is confused at the moment about target setting for f/stage as the levels do not correlate with ks1 SATs. I don't mind setting targets for each group to pass up to the next teacher as a target such as 'to remember to leave finger spaces in beween each word in a sentence' is far more specific that some of the vague pr…

The O Word

Yes, the dreaded O word is breathing its ugly head at our place. We got the letter yesterday and were told to expect those lovely inspectors on 18th Otcober (week before half term) and to put it mildly I'm pretty nervous. There's something about it that scares me rigid. If I'd have been at my old school I'd have said bring it on, as I felt more secure there with what I was doing and being able to talk about it. This time I feel like there's so much to do before then and now, as a new co-ordinator (ICT as of September) and the teacher with possibly the most difficult mix in the school (reception and year 1) I feel like it's going to be tough. Sorry, just needed to get i…

Performance Management

After my first ever performance management discussion- i've been told that i should train and support the two nursery staff who work with me. One is a GTA with no expereince of early years excpet the three years in our nursery working under my supervision. The 2nd member of staff is an ATA with 10-12 years experence in KS1 and reception (old type) but no early years qualification or nursery expereince as a Nursery nurse. I have pointed out to managemnt that nurserry is not just 'playing' and the need for qualified staff who understand and realise the need for certain routines within the setting. Neither staff has expereince in observational techniques etc but the ATA has…

Letterland V Jolly Phonics

Hi, Just joined and just read listing re. JP. Been teaching Reception for two years. Was told 'we use Letterland' by initail co-teacher who left after 1 term. Replacement used a mixed bag of ideas but was swaying towards Jolly Phonics. I've continued with Letterland as find the children really enjoy it. We do 1 sound a week from Sept to half term as some morning only and then 2 sounds a week through to Jan. I recap weekly as a mental starter and we do actions for all the characters and they're sounds e.g. like walking like a duck, waddling whilst saying, d, d, d. The children seem to really like it and it certainly helps them learn their sounds and how to write the …
