Early Years Cluster Meetings Ideas
by Guest- 6 replies

Hi everyone! Part of my performance development this year is to establish an Early Years Cluster group as we currently don't have one! I am excited but a bit daunted by the challenge!! I have no issue with the organisation side of things, but I would appreciate knowing how yours all work! What format do they take? How often? More specifically, what focuses have worked well? I was thinking of holding them in a different setting each time and having a focus like roleplay, developing boys writing etc, but I haven't got all the answers to 'train' everyone - do you just put the focus out there and expect everyone to bring something to share? Thanks in advance!

Hi Just bought a beat baby along with CD and am a bit confused. Do the children clap along to the beat or along to the syllables as they sing them?

Learning Journals - Yes Or No?
by Guest- 10 replies

We are having a Learning Journals crisis! To do or not to do? We keep lots of evidence through class celebration books of areas of learning and project work - photos, observations etc, EYFSP data is updated on a monthly basis on eye profile so progress can be monitored closely, photographic evidence is kept in 30 folders on the network - each child having their own folder to be given on a CD to parents at the end of the year. And we keep Look Listen and Note records for every child. Do we need individual Learning Journays as well? Discuss!!!

Letters And Sounds 4 Part Lesson

Hello folks. This is my first post on this forum having joined yesterday. There are some great posts on here. I'm looking for some advice on teaching phonics. I'm happy with the first two parts but am struggling to organise the practise part. How do others manage this? Do you set up lots of activities and send them to work in groups, supporting a different group each day? Do you split into ability groups, one with the teacher and one with the TA? I'm worried about having enough resources for all the children to participate. The school has said they will fund the resources I need but I first need to be clear as to exactly what I need! Any advice would be welcome.

School Visit Prior To Interview
by Guest- 5 replies

I have been invited to look around a school prior to interview. I was wondering if someone could tell me what generally happens on such visits. Is it just as it suggests a visit or will I be asked question etc. Just want to be prepared. Job is for a SEN TA - supporting child with ASD on one-to-one basis. Thank you for any help.

Hiya, not posted here before as I am a cm but hoping someone can help me. My son is in year 1 at primary school in NW. He was taken to the headmaster yesterday and Im wondereing why I wasnt informed until after the event. Can I request that I am told and given a chance to be present should any future situations arise or are parents "not allowed" as its within the confines of school?. The history of this is that my son in reception had been taunted by a particular child, the staff new of the situation but it was only my son that was reprimanded and taught about "keeping his temper" using "kind hands and feet ". This resulted in ( 8mths down the line) him biting th…

Hi there, I have purchased a Beat Baby and also one of the number rhyme CD's but before I start using it I would love if someone could help me and explain how EXACTLY you use it?! Do you get the children to tap their feet to the rhythm? Do they sing along too? How can you TELL when they are maintaining a steady beat? And is this when you might reveal Beat Baby uncurled in all her glory? Aghh, so confused!!

Ten Big Biscuits
by Guest- 3 replies

I am hoping that somebody can help me to find this song: 10 big biscuits in the biscuit tin, then my hand went diving in, gobble gobble munch munch gobble gobble crunch, that left 9 big biscuits in the biscuit tin. Same down to 0 then.. 0 big biscuits in the biscuit tin, then my mum came walking in, gobble gobble munch munch gobble gobble crunch, now we're banned from biscuits in the biscuit tin. The teacher in my final placement school had the song but I can't seem to find it anywhere - I wondered if anybody knows where I could get it from or if anybody has got it. I have been singing it with my class but I would like them to hear the song as well…
