Hi all, I am trying to prepare a CLL information evening for parents. I am to deliver a presentation on all areas of CLL and how they are supported in EYFS, the phonics system, Jolly Phonics, Letters and Sounds etc. I am then asked to set up activities for the parents to look at. I am also to make a help for parents with ideas to support their children with reading, writing, communication and thinking. I would really appreciate it if anyone has any ideas for the presentation or parents pack. Thanks everyone

HI, I have a lesson observation on Thursday with my own class for a potential new job. I have 30 FS1 children and have been told i need to do a CLL lesson but not phonics. As next week is our book week i was going to do the Gingerbread Man as it's so reliable. Ihave searched n here for it and there are loads of wonderful ideas. However, seeing as though all of the children have only been in a couple of weeks they're realy not that capable of much (ok some are) but some are still finding the daily routine quite difficult to follow!! Any superb ideas for new FS1? Was going to do whole group of the story, using props etc, then move onto a focus activity so it's the f…

Hi all I am at my wits end with this class. 70% are boys and in a shared area with another class, who are also 70% boys. Massively hard to engage, especially outdoors where play quickly turns into fighting. Has anyone got any tried and tested outdoor activities that will get these boys focussed but doing all the physical stuff that they so desperately need?

Hi everyone, I have 3 children in my Reception class with ASD (we keep being recommended by the Ed Psychs) and we've just had some training by the LEA which was fantastic. However, I'm really struggling with one child in particular. A bit of background. This child attended nursery in another school and was very badly treated by them he was never allowed in the class or to mix with the other children. He couldn't use many of their resources and was placed in the corridor with an untrained dinner lady almost constantly. If there was an incident he was sent home, usually before 10.30am. He's a lovely little boy and has very supportive parents, however, he now ha…

Hi everyone, I am looking to change our half termly topics as we are finding them too specific and limited. Does anyone have any ideas for broader topics. At the moment we do the traditional colour, ourselves, people who help us etc but we are finding them a little stale and restricting. Was thinking more along the lines of rhythm and pattern or something like that?? Any suggestions would be really appreciated. Cheers x

Hi all I am currently thinking about what we can do for our Christmas performance. Yikes, I know it is scary but preparation and all that! We have over 100 children in our unit. We have over 40 Reception and the rest are Nursery. We usually have two performances. Does anyone have any great ideas that they would like to share? I would also like to ask anyone if they have any advice on boy top heavy classes. All of my children come together tomorrow for the first time and I know it is going to be a loud year! Any ideas to keep boys interested in all aspects of the areas? i have one boy at the moment who is unable to stay at an activity for more than 2 minutes, he …

Hi - i would be really really really grateful if anybody could share some planning ideas / examples of planning linked around the story - were going on a bear hunt (for nursery children). Many thanks in advance - 1 very tired & brainless (at least it feels that way!) practitioner!!!
