Water Fun Music

OK everyone, I need to pick your brains... Yesterday we had a water fun day in our class. We got the paddling pool out and had a water fight etc. We took some brilliant videos of the children having fun, splashing about in the water and I want to put some music on the video when I edit it but I'm struggling to think of what song I could use. Up to now I've only thought of splish splash I was taking a bath and if I can't come up with anything better it'll have to do but I thought I'd ask you lovely lot first because I'm sure you'll come up with better ideas. Thank you all in advance...

Gingerbreadman Role Play
by Guest- 3 replies

Okay _ I am trying to have a go at deconstructed role play. We have been doing trad. tales and the chn had a great time with my enhancement basket for the 3 pigs, but I'm planning to do the Gingerbread man next week and am struggling to think what to put in my basket apart from face masks, or animals in the story - feel something is missing. Also, need to make some provision for mark making. I have covered area with lining paper and with the 3 pigs story got some great writing (speech bubbles no less!) and pictures of the pigs on paper. Is this sufficient. being moderated next week so want it to look like I've given it thought.

Hi all Not sure if I have put this in the right discussion forum. Would like to ask whether any of you currently or previously have been involved in one to one (SEN) support in schools? If so what are the good points about your job? Do they outweigh the negatives? Hope you can help

Not Able To Rhyme
by Guest- 5 replies
- 2.5k views
I have a boy in my class who has EAL and also has some sound formation difficulties (long wait for speech therapy). His English is improving and can communicate well in his home language and in English. However, we have discovered he is not able to identify rhyming words. He can't hear them nor generate any new ones. My very keen TA wants all the answers for this and I must admit I am at a loss. We recently did a unit on rhyme and rhythm in literacy but he was away - other children who found it challenging then have now 'clicked' and can identify and generate rhyming words. Any ideas and answers??

Scissors In Fs1

Hi everyone- If you were planning a session for nursery, would it be usual practice to leave a cutting and sticking activity out during continuous provision? The TA would be circulating and supporting all children in the room while they were involved in child initiated activities and the teacher leading an activity with a small group. Or would it be better for the TA to be sitting at the table with the scissors? All help appreciated. Thanks so much

my Reception class currently tidy up to a 5 minute song either 'popcorn' or 'we like to move it move it' just wondered what songs other people used if you use a tidy up song. Would like to use more varied music but struggling to think of tunes that are 4-5 minutes long as it takes this long to tidy up! thanks

Looking For Dinosaur Ideas...
by Guest- 4 replies

Hi everyone, This is my first post, I am a Nursery Assistant based in a very rural setting in Scotland. I am looking for dionsaur ideas for my nursery class. So far we have measured how big dinosaurs were and created a dinosaur land with paper mache in our tuff spot. Does anyone have any other ideas or can you point me in the right direction. Also I have just started using a learning wall, but was on a course where learning ladders for the children to set their own targets was mentioned. Does anyone have any experience of using both or either, and willing to share their knowledge. Thanks in advance for any help given. Fiona

Clld In Early Years

Hi all, I am trying to develop Literacy provision and practice in our Foundation stage. I want to begin by broadening my own knowledge and understanding of child development (especially in relation to CLLD) so I can better understand the theory behind what we do, and also develop a vision of outstanding practice, something to aspire to! Can anybody recommend a good author or book to get the thought process going?! (preferably the easy to read variety!) Thanks, Sarah.
