Setting Up Governor Led Pre-school

I am in need of some advice on setting up a governor led pre-school in our school. I teach Reception in a small rural school and our local pre-school is struggling with its premises and numbers. We have been talking to them about possibly setting up an on-site pre-school. My head's preferred model is for the pre-school to close and we will then set up a governor led pre-school on site. We have an old outbuilding which could be converted to provide accomodation. I have contacted Ofsted and they have said that if we take rising 3s and older it can be part of the school's services and we do not have to register it separately. Does anyone have any experience of setting …

I'm hoping to run a topic on animals in Africa with my children reserching and finding out facts about them. There is obviously a lot of information available on the internet, however I would really like some non fiction books they will be able to access independently on the topic as well. Does anyone have any recommendations they can make? I'm finding it har to decide which ones to go for and which will be simple enough for my year one class to access themselves (I have some very good readers, but many non fiction books have an overwhelming amount of difficult text on each page which puts the children off).

Hi all, Am doing a local area/village/school topic next term, and am looking for some more inspiration! Help very much appreciated! X

Hi looking for some direction and fresh ideas for a 3 to 4 week on the theme of spring. We teach a creative curriculum in school which gives me a good scope of learning opportunities for rec/yr1/yr2 class. I would be very grateful for any support.

Dear All, am sat here fuming on behalf of my P.A.'s son. He has a verucca on his foot and is currently being excluded from PE because 'APPARENTLY' legislation exists that states only children with bare feet should be using the large gym equipment!!!!!!!!!! I, thankfully, do not have the pleasure of working in a school, this child is in year 1, but I am fairly confident that this decision would be down to the Schools own risk assesment...... Do correct me if I'm wrong and I will swallow my words!

Hi all, Looking for some inspiration please! Am planning a PSRN focus on The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch- mainly looking at measuring. Any ideas please? I already have Hamish the cat stuck up a tree in the outdoor area and they have to make a ladder tall enough to rescue him! Making different height lighthouses in junk modelling and construction. Comapring different lengths of string to make the wire for the food basket to fit between the lighthouse and the cottage. Comparing different lengths of food to fit into different sized baskets. Would love to hear your ideas. Many thanks

Hi there...my setting has just received permission to build a much needed extra classroom on ... we are actively fundraising for those little extras to relieve pressure on overstretched budgets ... do you have any great ideas 1- for involving parents in fundraising activities that have worked for you 2- the best fundraisers you have done ! Not trying to reinvent the wheel here but just garner some fresh ideas from lots of people out there who might be feeling the financial squeeeze too ! Thanks Claire

Has anyone any suggestions of how my setting can involve parents more. We are a small setting, so when the children arrive, they have to be dropped off at the door due to lack of space. The supervisor welcomes the children in but the other staff have little or no contact with the parents. Each child has a book that goes home daily, in which their key person writes in but I feel this isn't enough. I would rather the opportunity to speak with them but not necesarily officially - as in parents eve. Any ideas are welcomed.
