Help, Help, Help!!!! I have been awake since 05:00 thinking about Tuesdays lesson observation by our dragon of a Literacy Co-ordinator (yr 6 Teacher). As a whole school approach we are trying to incorporate Pie Corbetts - Talk for writing starting in Nursery. I am in Reception, with 28 chn and 1 Nursery Nurse, and desperately need help from you guys for tuesdays literacy lesson where I will be observed. I can not sleep for thinking about it...Where do I begin? Which text should I use....Little Red Hen? The Very Hungry Caterpillar to go with our chn's current interests of Minibeasts? Should I split the class? Obviously on monday, i will have to read the cho…

I have a small table in my classroom that is the KUW area. Obviously a whole load of KUW learning takes place outside but I still like to have an area for this in the classroom. However, I feel a little stale in what I am putting out and wondered if we could all generate some KUW ideas that can be used within the classroom. Some of the sorts of things I have had out are... Magnets Smelling pots Objects frozen in ice Discovery bottles obscure objects to discuss information books and autumn objects coloured ice cubes programmable toys Any other ideas?

Hi all, I am currently studying a foundation degree, I am currently working through my last assignment which is all about the curriculum. I was just wondering if anyone can give me some help with answering a few questions about the curriculum in year one or year two that you follow such as How your planning links to the national curriculum? What your views are on assessment? What your views are on working within a national curriculum? How do you assess your children? such as SATS? Transistions - what do you put in place for your children? Thank you, your replies will be much appreciated!!

Hi, Can anyone tell me what kind of levels of recording are expected/appropriate in Year 1? The children have had sometimes only 1 term in reception. Also are worksheet type activities acceptable?

Hello, Ive just become aware that I am meant to have generic risk assessments for indoor/outdoor learning, sand, water, computers, cooking, bikes etc - basically everything. Does everyone else already have these? If so, where did it say I should have done this? How have I missed it? Already found this which is useful and worrying at the same time Amanda

I work in a predominately white christian school so forgive my ignorance. I have a little boy in class who is Jehovahs Witness and I know exactly what he can do and can't when it comes to Christmas and other celebrations. His parents have been very clear with me. However I have little girl who is a Muslim and I am not sure whether she can take part in Christmas celebrations or not. All her parents have told me is she can't eat pork, they haven't said anything about religion. She is celebrating Eid this week. However I don't know whether she can go to our Christingle service, be in Christmas performances, make anything Christmassy etc. What is everyone elses Ch…

What are you using this week to engage reception in the theme? I've seen 'Something Else' but it is about someone who doesnt fit in. Does anyone have a more relevant suggestion for a book to use to make bullying understood?
