Hi all, Since our ofsted inspection in December when we were graded satisfactory because of the progress children make in foundation stage and the whole school, I have been trying hard to figure this out... my Head (who knows very little about foundation stage) told me that if children's results at end of the profile are in line with national average, then children have made satisfactory progress. But surely this depends on how they were on entry?? I am seeking to ask how people track progress in reception? (I have been told to use the profile but this doesn't always show a true reflection of where the children are, sometimes children have demonstrated they can s…

Hi everyone, I know someone will have the answers with this one....I am setting up an ' under the sea' theme next term & thought the lightbox wouldd really lend itself here. I'm after some images of beautiful tropical fish, sea life, fish skeletons etc, for children to explore using the lightbox. Would I need overhead transparencies and then photocopy the images onto it or is there anywhere that I could buy them from? I hope ive made myself clear with this. xxxx

Hi I read something the other day on the forum that I can't now find and it is really annoying me. Please can someone help?! Basically someone gave a really good name to a display table where the children can place on there any models they have made from the construction area or things they have made from home etc. It had a fantastic inspiring name but I can't find it. I will be over the moon if someone knows what I am talking about as I have been looking for it all morning! Please help. x

if a colleague of yours (who you are responsible/line manager for) knowingly left a child in wet (from water play-not urine) clothes for a session?

Hi Im having a 1hr coffee and cake session next week for the new reception parents and children and the old reception parents and children. Im planning on setting up an area for parents to chat whilst staff play some games with the children. Just wondering if anyone has any bright ideas for what to do with them. Im not anticipating a great turn out but this is the first time ive done this to try and build a better relationship with parents before the year starts. Im going to do games and things with my current class anyway, and then others can join in if they do turn up! So large group games? any ideas?

Home/school Books

Our Key Stage Two currently have pupil organisers and Key Stage 1 and Reception have Reading Diaries. From September management want Reception and Key Stage 1 to have a home/school organiser that combines a reading diary with spellings, messages from school etc. I have been able to design my own so have a section for reading comments, meassages from home and school, a weekly challenge/home activity idea and a WOW box where parents/staff can write something they are really proud of the child for. I just need a funky name for it instead of boring 'School Organiser' or 'Home School Book'. Any ideas from anyone please?? I like anything fun, alliterative and appeal…

Hi This is the first time I have done this so I hope it is ok!!!! I work in a Pre-school room within a private day nursery. Currently I feel that relationships between parents and the staff/nursery are lacking. I really want to get my parents invovled within the room and nursery life as a whole. We have open evenings and the annual nativity play but I feel that we need to involve parents more as they are they hold the key to all information about their child. Is there anyone out there who has any ideas???? Thanks Alison
