After a long time in a very formal year 2 setting, i am moving to fs1! i am delighted as its what i have wanted for ages. something that has been bothering me is all the singing! although i specialised in early years and did plenty of singing then, its seems so long ago that i was singing on a daily basis. Any tips and advice on how to get used to it? Thanks in advance!

Teaching Shape

I'm feeling a bit uninspired these holidays. I've done 2D and 3D shape with my class before so they know all about them and can talk about most of the features, but I need to do a 'refresher' week on them as we haven't touched on them since the beginning of this year. Anyone know any good activities I could do? I've had a look around but the ones I've seen seem mostly for the first introduction to the shapes and as its a year one class who have done it before they are a bit past those activities.

Hello everybody! I'm new to the forum (in fact, new to forums in general!) so apologies if this is in the wrong place! Reception Timetable

I'm really unhappy with the way we run our F2 classes at the moment. I don't think it embraces the ethos of learning through play although we claim to be doing that. The children are actually just playing while we get on with formal writing/number in the mornings and individual reading especially in the afternoons when we are supposed to be working alongside the children and observing. Does anyone have a sample timetable that they use and that works really well and has a good balance that I could look at, please? Also is anyone else stuck with Abacus Evolve? What do you think of it?
