Getting Parents Involved
by Guest- 7 replies

Hi all Can I ask what you do as schools to get your parents in and involved in school life? The reason I am asking is that I am going for the assistant head job at my school and getting parents on board is something I feel strongly about but I can't think of any 'outstanding' ideas to encourage this. I have thought of the usual reading workshops etc which we do anyway. I would like some exciting ideas to put forward at my interview. Also if anyone has got any other great ideas for assistant head interviews they would be greatly recivied! If you can help that would be great. Thank you Becs

Hello everyone We've had a display of children's ages in our pre-school room for a long time and I'd like to change it so I'm seeking inspiration. At the moment each child has a balloon with their photo and name on it and we have three big sections saying 'I am 2' 'I am 3' and 'I am 4'. The children love to move their balloon on their birthday and it's a popular display but needs a revamp. Any ideas? Beehive

If Reception teachers can actually be on their own with 30 children legally, I assume they legally cannot have free-flow inside and outside? If the children play outside on their own but can be seen in all of the outside area through a window by the only member of staff is this allowed ? (this may also may be because a second member of staff is on a coffee break) I have been hunting the Statutory framework for answers and feel it says you can't do either of the above. do you agree?

I would like to put up a couple of signs by the water and the sand tray saying how many children can play at a time. I found some on a site a while ago but, being as organised as ever, now can't find them. Just wondering/hoping somone knows where they may have been Many thanks, Jackie.

Reception Induction
by Guest- 6 replies

Hi, Sorry, I know this has been discussed before, but I wondered if people would mind sharing how they do things. At the moment, our new intake induction is as follows: 1. between receiving their confirmation of a place and the end of May: child and parent/s come and meet headteacher, look round school and come and meet me and TA in classroom 2. usually just before May half term: new intake meeting for parents - I waffle on about EFYS, how we work, what we do, what children need, that they don't need to be able to write (you get the picture!) 3. End of June/beginning of July: 2 x Friday afternoon visits to their new class, works out at about an h…
