Hi all, As we are soon to get the list of children who will be joining reception in september, I am trying to come up with a little introduction letter/pack to send to the parents/children. Just wondered if anyone has any ideas of the sorts of things I should include or even an example of theirs to see! Thanks! x

Introducing Punctuation In Writing
by Guest- 8 replies

Hi I have a group of HA FS2 children who are really good independent writers who I think are ready to start using basic punctuation in their writing (full stops & capitals). They already show awareness of both of these things in their reading but I am not sure the best way of showing them how to use them in their writing. In 3yrs of FS2 these are my brightest writers and up until now I haven't had children who were ready for this and I am a bit stuck of how to go about it. I am planning to do it as a seperate 'extension writers' group to the rest of the class. I feel a bit of a fool having to ask for advice about this Thanks

Hi I have got the broad theme of Food for next half terms topic and apart from the usual ideas of tasting and printing using foodstuffs and cooking food, I am looking for inspiration and a flow of ideas to get me started! Don't want this to become too dry or too obvious if that makes sense?!! Any ideas at all would be great guys. Cheers Kazdav1

Please Help!

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone else is still experienceing children flitting from activity to activity in PDR and not really gaining anything from what they are choosing to do? I have come to the conclusion that PDR is simply to unstructured for some of my cohort and need some ideas to ensure these children are learning through what they are doing. I still have children that aways choose to play with barbies and cars and just build in the construction area. I would be eternally grateful to hear what others are doing. I would also been interested to hear if anyone changes PDR the closer to the end of the year you get to aid transition to year 1. …

I'm not science coordinator and there isn't anything like this in our school, so i was just wondering if anyone had anything which i could use as a start or adapt. If not im going to be very busy this easter holiday!! Thanks x

Quick Question

I wasn't sure what section this should go under, so I hope it's okay here! I just need to know what year Reception teachers had to move from using the old national curriculum and over to the new early years curriculum (not necessarily EYFS, was there something before that or not?) Obviously if it was EYFS then only very recently. Many thanks ...

Activities Using Number Tracks?
by Guest- 3 replies
- 1.6k views
Hi After easter our school is hosting a maths morning for our parents. The parents of our class will come in and take part in activities with their children to help them understand how we use number tracks in school as an aid. We are in need of some practical and fun activities that we can get the parents to play with a small group of children. (something that doesn't need too much explanation!) Does anyone have any good suggestions? Thanks in advance! Kerry
