I know that copies of the new curriculum are arriving in schools but does anyone know if it is available online yet? I've been having a look round for it but I can't seem to see it. Is it not there or am I looking in the wrong place?

Hi We use Jolly Phonics in Reception. There seems to be something of a County push to replace it with Read, write inc. I was wondering if anyone out there had had experience of both and if you had any preferences. Happy Friday and thanks LT59

We're trying to get our school website up and running - yet again. One of the things we have been asked to do is to put links in for parents for sites that might be useful for children. Which ones do you/would you recommend. I have thought cbeebies or the little animals ..... (can't remember), possibly Poison Rouge - though I've never really found much on this myself. Any ideas/suggestions gratefully received. ~Thanks

Does anyone by any chance have a copy of this publication that they'd be willing to let me have/sell to me??? It was published in 2005 but I can't get hold of a copy anywhere. Thankyou

Hi everyone hoping someone can answer my queries as we are looking at improving the organisation of CLL in Reception. How do you approach guided reading and guided writing i.e. how is it timetabled? Also what other elements do you do for CLL as a focussed activities? Do you try and get through all groups in one session or do you space them over 2 days?? Sorry for so many questions - hope they make sense. Thanks in advance, Jules

Hi everyone, Just imagine you had a dull outside environment and a pot of money. What would you do? The space is limited. You have a small shed that is not big enough to store the scooters that you have as well as resources, so is not really accessible for children, you have 2 big trees that you cannot cut down, a nice sandpit, which doubles up as a stage, and a wooden obstacle course. The surfaces consist of concrete and safety felt under and around the sandpit and obstacle course. The entire area is fenced by a brightly coloured fence. The walls are either brickwork or painted white. I have obviously got some ideas but thought it better to put all our hea…

Hello, I really hope I am putting this in the right place. This is my first post, although i have known about the forum for a lot longer, just never subscribed before. I have a Reception interview coming up, and I am being asked to teach 20 children for 25 minutes. The guidelines I have been given are: - phonic based - with a book of my choice I have a rough idea of what to do...but wanted to throw it out there to see if anyone has some amazing ideas that I can do. Thanks G

Duck Eggs

Hey, a couple of years ago my preschool children enjoyed watching some chicken eggs hatch in our room and then nurtured them to adulthood afterwards, it was part of an educational scheme and we recieved all of the neccessary equipment; incubator, brooder box, food etc, it was a fantastic experience and not just for the children! I have since been informed that duckilings are friendlier cretures and more suitable for children. I have been trying to find a similar scheme but with embryo duck eggs proving unsuccessful at the moment so I wondered if anyone knows of a scheme or anywhere that could supply us with Duck eggs to hatch ??

Outside Water

I'm trying to build up a bank of ideas for outside water - I'm trying to make sure I'm doing things that they wouldn't be able to do inside, but I'm running out of inspiration. We have had lots of free play with children investigating water and transporting water on a big scale. Using pitpes and guttering to move water from one container to another, using different heights etc. Also putting things into pipes and guttering for the children to move. I really need some inspiration as to any fun activities or resources that would enliven this area. I'm waiting for our school caretaker to fix some guttering onto the wall to make a bit of a water run!
