How To Order Information
by Guest- 1 reply

Hi all I have just started in a school nursery and do jobshare and I am finding it quite difficult trying to remember where all my children are at. We highlight off where the children are over 3 development scales following the EYFS starting on 26months to 50 months the problem I am finding is that as all the children are at different levels and as I have come in now I just cant remember where they are. The lady I jobshare with says she keeps the info in her head so not many obs to look back on (she has had a very heavy work load to keep on top off as been doing 2 peoples work). I would be very grateful of ideas or tips x

Hi everyone our head has asked me to produce some foundation data from the on entry scores in to reception class. I spent yesterday looking at it all but am a bit lost as to what i need to be doing. I was wondering if anyone else has done this and would be able to point me in the right direction or even shae their data with me? She has asked me to look at the whole on entry data in each area of learning as well as for groups of children ie EAL and summer birthdays. Im just stuck as to what this should look like, what sorts of charts etc will be useful to produce .... Any help would be gratefully received. Thank you so much Jo xx

Assessment Foundation Stage

Usually I can find answers to problems that occur in my class by searching through the forum, so I am hoping that someone out there will be able to help me. Each term my colleague and I do a break down of the scores attained so far in the EYFS. These are generally broke down into the months, however our school SIP would like to see the months broken down even further, for example in the 30 - 50 months how many children are high attainers, how many medium attainers, and low attainers, does anyone have a simple method of breaking the scores down to this level. Many thanks Kate

How Much Evidence Is 'enough'?!
by Guest- 3 replies

Hi all, I am new to Reception this year and so I will be externally moderated by my LEA on my profiles. I want to obviously get everything right and I am getting to the point of paranoia! (Hence writing on here at eleven o'clock on a Friday! I have received lots of different opinions on how much evidence I should have for each point in my profiles...I have been told one piece is enough, two pieces are needed and then even that three pieces for each point are needed. I obviously understand that 'it is my knowledge of the children' that they are looking for etc etc but I just want some opinions as I am terrified that I will just go blank when I am moderated! Lol. I …

I hope someone can help - am feeling at a bit of a loss. I know that points 1-3 have to be achieved before any of points 4-8 are awarded but do they have to be achieved in order? My feeling was that they usually were but didn't have to be. Now I'm wondering why I think that. If anyone can firstly let me know what the answer is and secondly point me in the direction of where I can see it written down that would be great. I've scanned the EYFS framework and the profile handbook and can only find it stated that points 4-8 are not hierachichal or linear but nothing about whether points 1-3 are! Thank you.

Hi All, Firstly - Apologies - I am sure this is a topic that has raged before ... but we are expecting the Big 'O' anytime, so I want to be really clear (if possible!) on my data analysis & expectations etc Is it stated anywhere that an 'average' child is expected to come into Reception with 3 scale points? When I am asked to analyse my class data to see whether the children enter Reception 'below average' - what is below average? Am soooo sorry if I'm being thick ... but Nursery assess and track where children are within the month bands e.g. 30-50, 40-60 etc. I have been told by someone that if they're working within 40-60 then they're working with…

We have been working on a list of Basic Skills in each year group in school. I have done a draft list for Nursery and wondered what people think. This is the MINIMUM we would like the children to achieve....obviously SEN might be different. Any thoughts?????

Sd & Ed Cultures Profile Points
by Guest- 5 replies

Today a little girl told the class about going to France for her aunties wedding- leaving that night. She then went on to say that she sometimes eats frogs legs and snails and that i might not like them but she does - must say i was very impressed. Later i was saying to mum how impressed i was that she had tried them. Mum laughed saying she had never had them. I'm still laughing - she was so convincing. Anyway i was wondering would you still give these points; although her story about the frogs legs and snails were completely fabricated, i feel she is still showing awareness of different cultures. What do you think?

Hi everyone, I was just wondering if anyone has any good ideas for space themed ideas for activities and whole class sessions (short as for nursery)? I'm thinking of doing week one (whatever next). Going to have a space rocket role play area but other than that I haven't planned anything yet. Any ideas would be great thanks!!
